Hello, I just wanted to ask if anyone has made a copy of The Shiftster? Or anyone had an old one for sale. My electronic 4x4 doesn't work, and I really don't want to deal with it.

 

It’s a pretty easy system to figure out. Do you have power to the shift motor? If you haven’t used the system for a while the motor on the transfer gets stuck. It is basically a large window motor. Try tapping on it with a hammer to free up the contacts. We replaced a lot of them under warranty because they were stuck from not being used for 9 or more months.

 

I replaced the shift motor and it worked for a a little while. Now there doesnt seem to be any power/lights from the shift computer. I did get another shift computer local for cheap ill try.

 

If I remember that module can self test and flash a code. I’d have to check my service manual to remind myself how and to see the code chart. I have an ‘89. I’d figure out what is wrong and fix it before ever made it so I had to crawl under the truck to shift the transfer case.

 

I had the module blink saying its ok, but no lights on the dashboard buttons and no shifting. No clue what's wrong with it now.

 

I have the ‘89 service manuals. I’m not sure how many pages cover the diagnostic process for the auto 4x4 system. It might not be practical to take pictures and post them.
