I came across a Highliner headliner on FB marketplace for $150. Considering they're $500+ new that's a helluva deal, but, it came out of an 82' F100 regular cab. I have a 78' F250 regular cab, anyone know if they're interchangeable or what it'd take to make it work? The pic is from the ad listing Pic from the ad
So you are looking sort of at one this? https://www.lmctruck.com/interior/he...lt-in-speakers
79 versus 82, IMO not that much change in the that area. Get the seller to take some basic measurments like over all length and width. Then compare that to your 1979 head liner measurements.
That's the one. I did request measurements, still waiting lol. Figured I'd hop on here in the meantime. Do you have any experience with it? *never thought id ask that in regards to a headliner
I think if that one measure's out the same as a 73-79 OEM headlinerand the edge lip looks like the 1979 headliner trim will match up (to hold it in place), you will be ok. Wiring the speakers...you will need to pull the wiring up thru the A pillar, if you use the dash radio. Or are you going to mount a radio up in it? Dvr side A pillar has the dome light wiring in it already. Also looks like you have a extra center dome light, should be able to tap into the OEM dome light wiring. I have not installed one.
I wanted one after seeing them in J C W for a hair over $100 long ago, more so after seeing one in a truck, but things were tight then. I did not realize the $$$ jumped so.
Thanks for the diagrams! They'll definitely come in handy. Im thinking ill keep the stereo in the dash and install a cb overhead instead(recently acquired a whelen sa315 PA speaker😈 but definitely plan to run auxiliary power and ground terminals regardless...just because they're never in the way and always handy
