More than likely its a 28 spline shaft.
You often can find used Ford Track Lock carriers on ebay, for super cheap, and then all you need is a rebuild kit from ford.
All said and done, you should be able to get a like new LS for under 200 bucks, but you must take in account the weight for shipping when bidding.
Some times you can find used LS units that have low miles, and you could drop them in with the proper spacers and back spacing.
However, if you are a weekend wrench turner, this is a project that should be left to professionals.
You could buy the unit and then have a shop put it in and or rebuid it too.
