Does anyone know where I could find one of these "warm up" cable clamps/brackets for a 52 215 I6?
And, I'm guessing that's what this is for? It just advances the throttle a little from idle.
It is not a "warm up clamp", but the mount for the hand throttle cable control, Ford part 2C-9764-A. Mounted with a 1/4-20 bolt, lock washer, and nut. Sourcing one may take some effort.
Ahh...Hand Throttle! That's the correct name.
OK, I can't find any mention of this in the shop manual...in either the 50/51 section or the 52 supplement.
What was its purpose?
Get the generator spinning a little faster so it would charge?
Heat the engine up faster on cold days?
I know on tractors they have this for running a PTO, but no mention of anything like that for old trucks (that I have seen anyway).
While Hand Throttle controls were available all along, yet your particular setup with the 215 Engine was introduced in 1952. The hand throttle system is not covered by much Ford documentation. Basically, the hand throttle control is very similar to the choke control. The ****, labeled "T", is mounted on the dash (between the L and C *****), and like the choke, has a cable routed through the firewall and mounted in the subject bracket, with the pull terminated at the hand throttle lever cable screw clamp. The main purpose would be an advantage to trucks with PTO driven equipment, such as a hydraulic pump for dump beds.
This is the best diagram documentation I could of the setup, but it does not show the subject bracket.

Ahh...hydraulic pumps! That makes sense.
This is an F2, so work trucks likely would have been configured for engine driven options.
99% of the pictures I've found either show this cable missing, or just tied up in the engine compartment.
They never seem to be hooked up.
I did find a 90 deg bracket with the cable clamp on it that looks like it will work. I'm going to try flattening out the bend in my vice and then attach it to the original mounting location.
It's just for show anyway...
Don't flatten it out! It should have a 90° bend towards the top just like the picture you referenced, and (maybe not as obvious) in the graphic I shared of the specific part.
Thanks for the dash comparison pic. My 55 F250 has the blank like the bottom pic. I would really like to have the throttle cable though. My other two early Fords both have it and it's nice to have for warming up

My 55 F250 also has the blank. Doesn't the choke work for warm up?
Not that well. Once it's running, adding the choke back makes the engine stumble and eventually stall. And if I just leave it on, it starts fine, but then as it warms, it doesn't like it at all.
The Hand Throttle would be a much better solution.
