I have a 2019 F350 CC LB 6.7 with the OEM LED headlights. The C light that lights up around the perimeter is partially dead on the left headlight only, all other parts of that headlight work fine. I pulled the headlight assuming an LED bulb is accessible however, the light appears to be one piece/sealed unit with no access to the inner part to replace LED bulbs? Anybody know how to fix this?
The LEDs aren't conventionally replaceable. It involves disassembling the entire unit, having new LEDs of the correct color, and unsoldering/resoldering the LEDs to replace them, then putting it all back together. All without breaking the plastic (which is more fragile than it looks) and making sure you get a good seal when you close it all back up to avoid water intrusion.
Which is why most people end up replacing the entire unit, though it is costly. You MAY be able to get your Comprehensive insurance to cover it, because technically it's a 'safety' issue that some insurance companies will pay for. Then it's whatever your deductible is. I bring it up because those are, from what I can tell, technically the Daytime Running Lights, thus considered 'safety', and I knew a person who broke her turn signal switch and her comprehensive insurance covered the bill to replace it.
Thanks for the input I guess I’ll live with it for now. It’s the lower half of the left headlight assy so not the end of the world since it’s that outer C rim only.
If it gets worse I’ll try insurance or that Jeep outfit that was listed. I did search the site for my truck however I think they are Jeep only.
Now it’s time to find the rubber so called gap filler between the light and bumper. That rubber piece was deteriorating and fell apart while removing the light. The right looks just as bad. Anyone have a lead on that?
