Hey all after nearly a year of looking I found a truck that had a 6.5 box and tow capacity i need. Its a little older but low miles. Its a 2014 F150, 6.5 box. I was curious what I need to add to tail gate to use to haul 2 round bales of hay? Is there better hinges or some kind of upgrade kit. Hauling a short distance about 15 miles.
that's a large ask...can't help with that. aren't most bales 4-5' wide? doesn't seem like you'll have a large enough footprint unless comfortable with ~1/2 of 2nd bale not being supported
I do recommend you take a zip tie or hose clamp and secure the passenger side hinge. it has a slot at ~80 degrees. this is to allow for tailgate removal. problem is that sometimes debris/materials in the bed can push the tailgate when it's at that position...and the tailgate pops right off. might be an issue when loading bales
