I have the same type distributor in wife's 360 and it's great for a simple upgrade. The only downside can be using original air cleaner unless you buy spacers and with some you need to use a belt a belt sander to get it just right, just depends on what carburetor you are using.
ideally one would take the resistor wire out and run
a new wire from ignition switch for a full 12v.
I had one on my 390fe for years and never had a problem with it. Definitely cant use the air cleaner though. I put an aftermarket one on it to solve that issue.
Did any of you have a hard time stabbing that dizzy the first? It was at least 10 years ago when I first tried mine and it took me forever it seemed til I finally got it to drop in.
I think its really hit or miss on that. I had one drop in and work perfect. Then I had one fight me going in and getting the timing set! And that was a Ford Electronic one and what a pain till it finally worked!
Once you have the gear engaged on the cam shaft just bump the starter with downward pressure on the distributor and it will fall in the rest of the way.
