Brought home this 69 short bed earlier this year, finally got around to looking into the engine, couple of corroded cylinders, ugly clutch area due to standing water in clutch inspection pan, thinking of doing an engine swap just to get it mobile in the short term, possibly with auto trans. Ultimately I would personally rebuild the original 360, just don't have the time for that currently. Thinking a 302 for simplicity/cost? Will need new perches, etc.
Asking here if anyone near the Pittsburgh PA area has a line on a reasonably price running 302?
Why not just pick up a 360 or 390 and drop it in. Of course the end of last year I couldn't get rid of a 360 and scrapped a running engine.
Finding a good 302 should be reasonably easy, they were installed in just about everything up thru 2001, parts are readily available and should be cheap (I think) compared to FE engine - finding a good FE seems to be difficult
