Fellow Ford Maintainers
I am pretty sure I have tracked down my power window problem to the switch on the drivers side rear door of my Early 1999 F350 PS ZF6 CC LB. I have power to the switch, and the motor turns both directions when jumped. But the switch will only make the window go down.
I ordered a new switch from Ebay, and the one that came has a different wiring harness connector. Is mine just for early 99s?
This is actually not an early 99 issue, the one you got from eBay was incorrectly listed by the seller as being compatible with your truck (I found the listing.) The part number on the trim piece on the eBay switch is 2C3T-14A588-AA. The "2" at the beginning of the part number refers to the part being introduced in calendar year 2002 and this switch fits 2002-2007 trucks. Your switch on the right from your truck has the number F81B-14A588-AAW, it was introduced during calendar year 1998 and fits 1999-2001 trucks. Ford changed the electricals on trucks a lot when they switched from the GEM to the BCM around model year 2002 and the BCM era power window and lock connectors are very different from the GEM era ones. Look only for the part number F81B-14A588-AAW and you will find the correct switch for your truck.
Being a fellow early 99 owner, I don't blame you for thinking this is yet another early 99 specific part as there are aquite a few of them.
