...Yall are the closest thing to experts that I know...so here goes...
...I can sign on to aol, but it takes at least three trys, I get the home page but it wont let me access any thing else...I get a "aol error" message that tells me to sign off and restart the computer and try again.
Ive tried reformatting...everything
Apparently my modems working...
I tried the IE repair option...
I have window 2000 proffessional...
Any ideas....? Ive thought about trying one of those eraser programs and starting over...I spent most of this weekend trying to figure this out....'Bout ready to take my 12ga to the whole thing....
Sounds like your AOL aoftware is bad. If your modem is connecting I doubt if it is the problem, but to double check you could try setting up a NetZero account or dialing into a fax machine and sending a fax. Can you reinstall the AOL software? Or even better, dump them and go with somebody else?

I tried the reinstall...I just want to make sure that the problem is not on my end, before jumping on some body elses bandwagon...
Did you recently install AOL 9.0? If so, that is probably your problem. Everyone that I have talked to personally and people on the various forums I visit have had nothing but trouble with the 9.0 version. They all say that it does wierd things to your computer. I know, I upgraded about a month ago and had to uninstall it because I had nothing but problems.
If you did install 9.0, try uninstalling it and going back to the previous version you were using and see if that helps. I did that and haven't had any problems since.

Andysutt: I wish I could afford DSL or Cable
PaulV: Nope, I thought about it and almost did it but the computer froze up before I could load it. (as I was reading about it actually)
