starter relay

Im in the process of swapping in a duraspark 2 ignition into my 85 f150 that had the tfi-iv. Here's the diagram I've been using.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/DurasparkII.html

All I have left to wire is the red and white wire from the module. Do these go to the starter relay? I have a S and an I terminal on my relay, which I assume would be tied in with the ignition switch. Can someone let me know where exactly to put these two wires? thanks

The white wire goes to a 12volt power source that is hot when the key is in "START".
The red wire goes to a power source that is hot when the key is in "RUN".
The "S" on the relay gets power from the igntion switch when the key is "START", red/blue stripe wire.
The "I" sends 12 volts to the coil + when the starter is turning over, key is in "START".
So you could connect the white wire to the starter relay "I" terminal, the red wire has to go elsewhere.........there should be a wire left over from the TFI that would fit the purpose isnt there

On this TFI wiring example below, the red/lightgreen is the hot wire. You could tap into this wire for your red wire and your coil. I would mount the required resistor out near the coil, and feed it with the red/lightgreen. Hook the red wire to the module BEFORE the resistor, and hook the coil AFTER the resistor.

It provides current limiting to the coil circuit. That will keep the coil from overheating, and lengthen the life of the module. You can get one from the parts store. The book says it should be between 1.05 ohms to 1.15 ohms resistance. Sometimes they get a little warm, so take that in consideration when you mount it.

I would mount the resistor on a heat sink if possible. Even a piece of aluminum would help.

Okay thanks. This is my first time working on this type of stuff, so I really do apreciate the help. I'm pretty sure I have everything wired correctly, but I don't seem to be getting any spark. I have power at the module and at the coil batt with the ignition in start and in run but it won't fire (timing should be on too). What would you guys do next?
