That’s a thumb screw with a spade handle, I will have to find thread size.

this is the larger truck jack f2 or f4 and above I’m guessing . But it’s secured with the same thumb screw as the smaller more common f-1 jack.

All of those spade handle thumb screws on the link do not have a shoulder on them though- that’s kinda what holds down the surface area.

I think Denny Dehale said he’s got a collection if original screws he’s collected that are for sale

I agree, would have to add a washer also.

I don't know what jacks were in the bigger trucks in 1948-1952 but here is the jack that was in my original 55 F-350. It was larger and beefier.

Here's another photo from Lin Stacey, restorer of all Early Ford tool kits. This shows the complete kit for larger trucks. I think he said from 1942 and up. One of the parts pictures is super rare and he didnt have on hand. I still haven't been able to locate it.

This is a NOS F-3, E-350 48-56? jack. This number shows up in the 56 version of the Parts and Accessory catalog replacing the number listed below and in the 54 version. Also showing the correct thumb screw. Interesting, this jack has the thumbscrew hole but the books only list the screw for the half tons.

I think I have a jack like that. On the farm we called it a tractor jack.

48-52 trucks sure did come with a lot of tools.

that’s really cool! An NOS jack in the box hahaha. From the blue label at least itlooks to be a made-in-the 60’s part. I’ve heard Ford used these jacks well into the 1990’s! So they’re easy enough to find.

So, I have a 52 F2. I just finished painting all of the spare tire components and mounting a new tire to the correct 52 wheel I somehow found in a scrapyard in KS.
With regards to the jack, handles, tools, etc...does anyone have any pics of the tools (other than the jack) as Henry would have shipped them mounted in the truck?
They weren't all just tossed in the tool tray, were they? (The jack is mounted by the thumb screw...that's clear)
And what tool is supposed to remove the bolts on the spare tire hanger rods? Nothing I have located so far is deep enough to fit over the exposed threads, so it would have to have been the open end wrench? Is that right?

silver star. If you look at my pictures above a couple of the pictures are from Lin Stacey, who went into great depth of research to find accurate information about ford tools in the Ford archives. He advised the early ford v8 club just on tools and he also provided complete restored kits for owners of all various models of early fords both cars and commercial vehicles. He has recently passed sadly. His wife still has a large collection of his inventory however.

short answer; the tools came in a vinyl tool bag seen reproduced in said pictures , according to Lin’s specifications from Ford. They were then I assume placed in the tool tray at least for the Ford Trucks. Not sure what the cars did. The vinyl pouches did come in a few colors as they were made from scraps of leftover material from seat material. The most common I believe was black but Lin also told me about documented examples of brown and burgundy. One of the tool kits I had him make me was specifically a brown vinyl pouch.

I’m not familiar with the spare tire hanger rods.maybe you mean the wheel nuts?

The tools were in a tool bag 7RC-17010 like pictured above and stashed in the tool box above the gas tank behind the seat.

My big trucks don't have that spare setup, but I'm sure one of the tools would loosen up the nut to.allow the hanger to slide out and provide access to the spare.

The spare tire hanger on the 53-56 F100's had a big cast iron wing nut on a J hook. I think someone on this forum was/is reproducing the wingnut.
