Hello all, I finally got my injectors rebuilt (from Rosewood) and installed back in the truck. I was putting the valve cover gaskets back on when I noticed one of the 5-pin plugs on the top side was damaged. While trying to get the tape/loom off to replace the connector (luckily the gasket came with replacements) these two pins pulled out of their connector. It's right under the turbo inlet but I don't know what it is. An old post I found on this forum said that it might be the EBPV but I am not sure. Either way, the clip on the connector that these two wires go into broke when I touched it so now I need to replace it too. Searching for EBPV connectors I can only find the female side, which is the one in the picture. Does anyone know where I can find the male side connector and how do I know which wire goes into which pin?
Looks like the exhaust back pressure connector. Depending on how cold it is where you live, you don’t need it. Many are unplugged with no impact. You could just tape them up for now, then if you decide you need it you can make the repair.
I purchased the resistor from riffraff when I deleted the ebp valve from exhaust side during the turbo rebuild. Keeps it clean on the inside of the connector. That spot can get oil or fuel puddling when leaking. The ebpv is a leak source and I’m in mild climate which is also why it was removed.
do you have a code for this? The resistor is supposed to eliminate this code.
Everything on mine is stock. What is the difference between having this plugged in or not? I don't have any codes but it's not back to running yet. I purged the cylinders and oil rails and haven't been able to get it to start up yet. Charging the batteries now but I think one is dead.
Well we do have winters here. I don't know enough about it know if it needs to be open or closed, I would rather just fix it but I can't find the connector or a wiring schematic.
The wires/pins are still good but the retaining clip is broken, I'll see if the local parts store sells that. Now I just need to find out which wire goes in which position. The wires are so old it's not real clear what their colors/stripes even are but if someone could tell me what color they are supposed to be I could probably tell.
I found the replacement connector at the local auto shop, thanks Tom! Does anyone know how I can find out which wire goes to which pin? Every wiring diagram I can find shows 3 wires but mine only has 2, but none of them show pin placement.
I still need to know which pin to push into which position of the connector I got to replace the broken one. I'm not going to assume that it doesn't matter.
