Showing code P0019, according to potential seller this is a timing chain issue? Truck does run, ‘but needs to eventually be repaired’, according to the seller. Would this repair also include cam phaser?
142,000 mi on the odometer. What is a ballpark figure for repair? TIA.
Update: pulled the trigger and got the vehicle for $4,200.00. Engine does have an occasional misfire/hesitation when you ‘step on it’ when you are between 35-50 mph, at highway speeds it accelerates just fine. We are the 3rd owners, truck was ‘decked out’ from factory, 20 inch tires, moon roof, air conditioned seats, infotainment system, etc., so far, everything works. A huge ‘step up’ from our ‘95 Suburban we sold last year.
I will change the oil today, going with a Motorcraft filter, and full synthetic 5w-20. My mechanic will schedule it in, to correct the P0019 fault code. He says there are two options; go with ‘stock repair kit’ or go with a ‘delete kit’. The delete kit and installation runs about $1,000.00 more, than the stock kit. We probably opt for the stock kit.
Update: got the vehicle back late yesterday, 2 weeks after drop off.
For a job that supposedly takes 12-13 hours of ‘book time’, 2 weeks was frustrating and disappointing.
Mechanic strongly advised to adhere to 3,000mi oil changes, 5w-20 full synthetic is best, at the very least a synthetic blend.
