ebpv valve

i never her mine working , i have 4 inch enhaust but still have a muffler. i was in the low teens a few weeks ago and all my truck did was high idle until it got warm then it peridoically came back to high idle whan i was sitting. i have a chip from diablo. fyi how do i know if mine is still working? i never hear the whooosh from the pipe.

Gotta stick shift? Automatic? I knocked the parking brake switch loose one day on my 6 speed. The ECU couldn't see that the parking brake was applied and disabled the fast idle. The fix was to get the parking brake switch working again so the little light would turn on in the dashboard when the brake was applied. After that everything went back to normal.

its an auto. the fast idle works fine but i can never hear the whoosh sounds from the tail pipe. from what i understand there is a valve in there as well that helps warm the motor

Bluemoose,

You will hear the "hissing" while standing outside the truck near the tail pipe.

Shortly after start up. You will probably not hear it from inside the cab as it is not a big change in sound.

might be your exhaust backpressure sensor, im pretty sure mine is out b/c i get a code from my scmt that says exhaust backpressure sensor malfunction and mine dont whooosh anymore either
