I know a lot of folks use the Mongoose adapter but I'm curious if anyone has experience with the Topdon Rlink adapter? It's a good deal cheaper and has some good reviews on Amazon.
I was in the same boat and thought long and hard about buying a cheaper adapter, and I searched around the internet in different forums. I have two 2024 Fords and figured it would be handy one day. People who use them every day warned about the possibility of bricking your car. I waited for Prime Day this summer and bought the Mongoose, which had a 75.00 coupon. Black Friday is coming up soon. There is also tech support with the Mongoose if you get into a bind. I figure I could easily sell the mongoose if I didn't have any Fords one day. That was the reasoning I used.

Well known doesn't always translate to good quality or stable function. The Topdon (RLink) is Chinese whereas the Drew Tech (Mongoose) is US based right in the middle of the auto hub (Michigan). FDRS/Ford specifically lists Drew Tech adapter as validated and supported but nothing about RLink. There are plenty out there that use RLink and have little to no issues. However, for the difference of a couple hundred bucks I'd stick with the Mongoose both for their quality and tech support. I have called them on a couple of occasions when I was new to using FJDS and FDRS, they were absolutely wonderful!

Thank you. Knowing that FDRS recommends the Mongoose does make a difference, but also knowing others have used the Topdon persuaded me to get it.
The Topdon successfully updated every module that had updates (including the ipma). Now the real reason I got this was to update the IPC and of course it didn't have an update. Now to figure out how to get that update.
