For the past 3 or 4 days there's been a notice on FordPass saying that I'm scheduled to receive a software update in the next 24 hours. It goes on to say that the vehicle must be parked with the ignition off and that some functions will not be available and that the vehicle will be unavailable for up to 11 minutes.
So far this has not happened. The truck is set up for 1 AM updates. It has indeed been sitting with the ignition off, parked within feet of the router. So wifi signal shouldn't be an issue. Or is this handled via the onboard equipment?
Anyone else received the message but not received an update? The truck is functioning normally, except lately it sometimes doesn't detect the fob that's sitting right there in the truck cab. Yet the truck still starts and operates normally.

Ensure your battery is charged. If it's below a certain SOC, it won't update. I threw mine on a charger overnight (and closed the hood). The update was installed that evening (I have 1am selected, as well). My update was for the IPC recall.
I don't think it matters if you're on wifi or not. But, it is good that it is connected to your home network anyway.

As mentioned if your battery is below a certain percentage it won't do the update, I don't know what that percentage is. A charger might be what you need, as one of the known issues of a weak battery is it doesn't always recognize the fob.
It is handled by the onboard equipment or via wifi if you connected it to your home network. Wifi is usually better, but the OTA updates will work just as well.
The VAST majority of OTA updates are delivered via the vehicle's TCU (telematic control unit aka modem), not WiFi. Can't speak for the F350 (I've been out of one since '17), but for my 2021 F150, only one single OTA was delivered via WiFi -- and that was something to fix the TCU so it could start getting OTA updates again.

my 2025 f350 did the update last weekend. It’s for the gauge cluster. I will say it messed up, I had to drive it half way in the update, and every single fault and light came on in the dash. Once I parked it, it did its update. Everything worked fine again, but I had to reset up my gauge cluster.

Yeah I got my update the other day, gauge cluster settings were gone...which was annoying but to be expected.
Sadly the Ford Pass app didn't update that I got it, so it still says I have an open recall. Probably going to have to have the dealer double-check to make sure it's got the right update, then post that the recall is complete.
I had questions on OTA updates since others were talking about updates they received and I hadn't. I ended up calling Ford customer Care. They were very helpful with getting the update. It was nice because they could see everything going on with the pickup, etc.
Thanks for the insights on battery. I have indeed gotten the notice about it going into Deep Sleep mode because the truck hasn't been driven much lately. I've had a battery maintainer wired up under the hood for quite some time but haven't plugged it in at all in many months. It's not unusual for the truck to sit from 5 to 7 days recently.
Tomorrow I'll be driving it for 30 or so miles, maybe that'll get rid of Deep Sleep.

Plugged in the battery tender late yesterday afternoon. This morning FordPass indicates that the update has been completed. I haven't taken the truck out yet this morning to see if the cluster problems that others experienced are there.
