I bought my 70 F100 a few months back. The truck came with an aftermarket column that I "think" came from Speedway Motors but I discovered that there are a couple of parts missing from the column that prevent the turn signals from canceling and the horn from functioning (which explains why there was physically no horn on the truck). These are parts that cannot be sourced separately which is why I am buying a new column. The column that came in the truck also appears to be shorter than it should be and it is a floor shifter column. I am planning to replace it with the Speedway column linked below which is a 30" column with a column shifter. Looking for advice on what wiring connector I might need to properly adapt the column to my truck as well as what linkage I should use to connect the column to my C6 transmission. Has anyone converted the emergency flashers from using the switch in the dash to using the switch in the column?
I'm planning on replacing mine but have not got that far yet on my custom build. The column was shortened to give you more room inside the cab. I shortened mine for that reason. The original 17" wheel that came on these put it into your gut, even for a small person. The original column dia is larger than the one you posted. It only effect the mounting. Mounting tab may have to be added depending on how your current one is. The wiring connector will have to be replaced to the ford style. Painless wiring shows the pin outs for both types. Just a matter of transferring pins over to the correct position. As for the emergency flasher I have not looked into that part, should be a matter of moving the wires over. Just remember that most all is already in the column so you may have duplicates. The gear shift was operated by a rod on the original ones. It's just a matter of getting the correct spacing and the throw correct. Do you know if the shift lever on the C6 is still original or was it replaced when they went to floor shifter?
Surprised you can get parts to repair the one you have.
