2017 f250 6.2 crankshaft position sensor replacement
Replaced crankshaft position sensor on 2017 Ford f250 with the 6.2 now the truck will just turn over. Should the truck crank up so I can run so I can program on FORScan or do you have to have a special scanner to program sensor

Yes truck needs to be running to perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure. Did the truck run beforehand or is this a new issue?

yes, it ran and then I put the new sensor in because I had a code for itand then now it just turns over for probably two seconds and has a stored code for p0315
Sounds like you may have a bad out of the box sensor. You may need to try a different one or throw the original back in to verify. It also may be an alignment issue with the new sensor. Not exactly sure how that works as it's no exactly adjustable but Ford service data is weird sometimes. I would use the scanner to see if the PCM is receiving crank signal as a start. Are you holding the key/button or just hitting it once to start and letting the truck do its own thing?
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too that I need to get a Motorcraft brand and try that one because I had issues with a lead frame one time because it wasn’t Motorcraft but yeah, I just let the truck do its own thing bumped the key
So it's probably in service data somewhere but there is so much information I would be here for a week sifting through its. I am assuming here, but I am thinking there is a failsafe if the truck doesn't detect cam or crank signal or gets a bad one it kills the starter. Try holding the key and see what happens. And yes I know it's my job to sell Ford parts but in all seriousness OEM for Ford is the way to go especially with electronic parts.
Yeah, I held it. It still cuts it off in about two seconds still but I tried to get one from the local Ford dealership and they say that they couldn’t get one they were on back order blah blah but it’s the same one for 2010 to 2020 I think I’m going to try to get my hands on an OEM one and put it in and see what happens that’s why I curious because I’m pretty sure that the truck should run with a new one and then run the program for it to synchronize I would think
LMAO honestly wtf is up with all these dealers saying everything is on backorder. We have one on hand currently Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor - Ford
This is the Ford warehouse stock list, and there's more that wouldn't fit on screen. You should send this to whatever dealer you dealt with and go so how bout that backorder eh., Guess you don't like making money.
And I can confirm that the 2 second crank is the pcm not receiving proper crank sensor signal. PID rpm will be 0. Not saying it's your only problem. Also, some crank and cam sensor connectors are the same and I've seen people reverse those as well
I’ll have to double check the connectors but I’m only getting that code for it to be programmed so that’s what I’m trying to figure out if that as to be programmed for the truck to run or will it run without it programmed then do it because it’s saying the truck has to be at idle
I cant find a decent pic at the moment. But the sensor will drop right in as it came out and miss the line up hole at the bottom. Watched one of my techs fight this very thing. And of course it couldn't have been that. It was. A flexible camera will show it.
