Lug bolts sheared
We replaced both sides front rotors less than 500 miles ago.
Passenger side lug bolts failed 5 of 6 while he was driving about 40 mph this morning. They appear to have sheared. So glad he was going slow at the time, and nobody was hurt.
I have never seen this before. Thoughts?
I used to work doing wheels / tires & 95%+ of the time, studs broke for only a few reasons.
1) they were cross-threaded going on & wouldn't come back off without breaking
2) they were so loose that going down the road the force sheared them off
3) they were over torqued & the force popped them off
The other 5% of the time there was a random part failure.
I suppose crash should be on the list, but that is kind of obvious

Further questions from me to him... This was the driver side rotor. When we replaced the rotors we saw the driver side brake caliper pistons were damaged, but no parts place was open. I ordered him a new one which he installed some days later. He isn't certain he fully tightened the lug bolts after he replaced that caliper.
Sigh.
At least nobody was hurt, and no further damage to the truck.
