3G Alt Question

Not to beat a dead horse, I know there’s plenty of threads on it but have a question. I recently installed a painless wiring kit on my 68 F100. Should have just done the alt upgrade then but ran all the wiring hooked it all up for the original alt.

I want to install this https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10133/10002/-1

really straight forward. My question is what to do with the wire that originally ran from my fuse box to the output post on the old alt. Is it just obsolete now?

and same question with the Green/Red wire that would have been the exciter. In the painless manual (pic below) since I have an ammeter it said to cut the charge light and connect the two wires for the charging system to work. Again I take it this becomes obsolete.

Probably overthinking it (per usual when it comes to wiring) but is it really just hook up the new alt, ground it, Wire to a maxifuse on the firewall then to the battery positive and all the original voltage regulator and alternator wiring is unused? I know the Ammeter won’t work anymore but want to make sure since the alt wiring originally ran to the fuse box it’s not gonna screw up either stuff!

Fordification is down right now or I could post a diagram of how I did the 3G install on my 72.
I’ll try again later. You can have your ammeter converted to a volt meter.

I'm not familiar with the Painless harness, but if the wire you are referring to is just the feed to the fuse box, I would run it to the positive cable connection on the solenoid.

Wire legend:
Yellow/White wire from Alt. plug goes to constant 12V
Green/Red wire from Alt. plug goes to #904 Grn/Red wire from the C9 connector (used to go to original external voltage regulator plug)
Red 6 gauge charge wire goes through 150A mega fuse to battery (+)
Black/yellow wire from 3-wire C8 connector gets fused and connects to constant 12V to power cab.
Yellow wire from 3-wire C8 connector goes to switched 12V
Red wire from 3-wire C8 connector goes to ground
Yellow and red wires from 3-wire C8 connector operate converted ammeter as volt meter

*Note: If you choose to convert your ammeter to volt meter, pay attention to how the gauge shop converts your gauge. The red and yellow wires from the C8 connector could need to be reversed, depending on which post of your newly converted gauge is (+).
