What was wrong with the forward section of the bed that required replacement? I had to do a lot of repair in that area plus the entire bed floor is junk. I am jealous of your bed floor

The previous owner must’ve hauled around a lot of heavy unsecured objects. The panel was battered and mashed in. A long time ago I pulled the gas tank out and beat the panel back out toward the bed because it was pushing the gas tank in toward the seat. The metal was just too stretched out and there was no way it would ever dolly flat.
It looks nice. is that a repro panel or custom made? My uni is/was pretty rusted out, I fabricated a new torque box and the lower part of the rear cab as well as a host of repairs on the rest of the cab floor/mounts/corners.
I'm using a CPP power steering box (the one used in the 58-60 F100) and to get it to line up with the steering I've had to tweak slightly crooked to get it to line up with a Borgerson style joint. Just wondering if you have changed the steering box??
The engine looks nice, it looks like a 429/460 (and I should know) but I'm not familiar with the "other later model series...335?. The 460 I was going to rebuild turned out to be a boat anchor so I need to find another builder engine:

I got the panel from Carolina Classics. They list it as the front bed panel for 64-66. It perfectly matches the Unibody.
I just drilled out the spot welds and removed the top edge, then trimmed to fit. It is heavy gauge and matches the thickness of the original metal. You have to drill out the spots welds for the top gas tank bracket and transfer it over to the new panel.
I haven’t installed P/S on my truck because I love the stock no-P/S box. I found some NOS internals and rebuilt my stock steering box. I also fabricated a front sway bar.
I drove mine home, about five miles from where I bought it, I could hardly turn the wheel to park it I suspect the cab corner deterioration put some stress on the steering box/column. My wife sorta picked it out and she was happy that I was going to "upgrade" the steering...plus, I am past 80 and a skinny old guy so I have no romantic thoughts about original steering Plus the 460 weighs a little more than the 302 that was in it when I bought it.
