James the weather showed you got more rain that we did here. None of our rain was heavy, when it was raining it was a nice steady rain.
That canoe should be a nice little project. You must post up pictures of it.
Dave ----

It was a steady rain for almost a week. A few heavy downpours but mostly just steady rain.

Wind 180'd yesterday and is now coming in from due North raising the water levels.

If I make any progress on the canoe I'll share for sure.

The panel that goes above the dashboard however, for some reason very clearly shows a grid pattern of the structure of the back side. I don't understand how or why this showed through. You can't feel it with your fingers. Maybe it was high points that because smoother than the rest of the panel when I sanded it. And the under-column panel that I repaired, I knew my repair wasn't perfect and I was ok with that, but I did not expect the crack to be so visible and open. I thought it was filled in better than that!

I have a nitrous question; how do you know what amount of nitrous your system provides to the motor? Is it a 100 shot? is it a 75? I can assume it's just the size of the solenoids, or maybe the size of the nozzles in the plate? I don't know what I have!

The reason why you see the grid on that 1 parts is the way the paint dried.
I bet if you look on the back you will see that same grid and because if that the part is thicker in that area so temperature of the part changes on the thickness.
I think if the paint dried slower you would not get that.
I think you said you were going to hit it with clear is that with the clear sprayed on it now?

As for the shot of NOS I think each system is different.
I am seeing 2 solenoids from different company, NOS & NXO? Who makes the plate and the bottle.
It has been so long since I had my system and dont remember how or if you could change the shot size? I want to say I bought the plate for the size shot I felt was safe, 100 HP?
I was also running a Holley 2300 v2 carb not a v4 carb so I had to order my system special for that plate.

The ones you see on TV that they can change have jets you change out.
You pull of the solenoid and swap the jets and bolt the solenoids back up and go racing.
Now I just go thinking if you have the jet type I know you cant get them mixed up as they go by color but I wonder how they match the gas & spray jets or do they just change the spray?
But that dose not sound right as the more spray the more gas you can put in too.

Might be time to pull the NOS stuff off and check it out better so you know what you are dealing with.
I know to see if the solenoids work is with power to them metal should pull tight to the tops, magnet.
Now that does not mean the valve opens just that the solenoid electrical part works.
With the plate off, motor off and everything hooked up ready to work I would pull power to the spray solenoid and activate the system and fuel should spray out the plate.
Do the same for spray side and this way you know both sides work before the motor runs on spray.

I'm not sure if it's one or two cans. It might be more important which color you choose.

James, what flavor is the blue one as I dont see it listed
Not that i would drink any of them just wanted to know?

John, I went to Summit Racing to see how the kits adjusted the HP shot and all the brands look to use jets.
Now I could not tell from pictures if they had jets for both fuel & spray or just spray but both seams to make more sense to me.
I also did not go looking for jets to see if they all took the same jets or if each brand had their own jets?

I know mine did not have jets so dont think it was not adjustable.
The holes in the plate were 1 size for the power out put and if you wanted more I guess you bought another plate with larger holes?
I dont remember seeing the plate when I lived in CT and that was 10 years ago but I am pretty sure I took if off the Toyota along with the bottle straps, I did see them when in CT, just have not seen them since.
When my son gets his stuff out of my garage I will have more room to go through things that I have not even after 10 years

Josh hope you and family are well.

This was Selma Rail days
I was on gate watch at 1 of 3 entrances to the street to keep people from parking not with the show and never made it down to the other side where John and the rest of our club was parked.
Told we had about 70n cars / trucks show up. At my end there where some really nice and different ones near me. John will have to report on that end.
I did not even get to see the parade

Next Saturday we have the clubs show rain date at Decon Jones in Smithfield.
Like for the rail days I will also tow the clubs trailer to this outing too.

I was hoping to make it to the rail days thing but ended up hunting Friday evening. Working at the fire station Saturday and had a lunch date on Sunday. I didn't get any of my own stuff done.

I need to do yard work bad. I've been neglecting it.

As far as the canoe motor mount, it was going to cost me about 30 bucks in hardware to fab up a wood one. They sell metal ones for 50 bucks which includes the hardware. So I think I'm going to buy a metal one. I've read the homemade wood ones don't hold up well over time and some folks have lost their motors due to the wood rotting or breaking.

James I never tried any of those. But if they had red / strawberry I might be convinced to give it a 75 shot!

Josh our show went well, several of us participated in the parade prior to the show. There was a beautiful blue Dodge Charger across from me, probably a 71? He won best in show. I went down to the tent to see Dave and collect my door prize but no Fuzz! Must have been eating lunch or something. How was your show in Sanford?

Dave I had the same thought as you regarding the grid pattern, that it must have been temp related as it dried. If I remember right it was in the evening as I had to wait til wind died down, so the temp was probably dropping. I scuffed it with 600 and resprayed it earlier in the afternoon and it dried fine with no visible indication of the grid anymore so I am happy with the way it came out.

What you said about the nitrous jets makes the most sense to me. The nitrous solenoid and fuel solenoid are both NX brand, the purge solenoid is NOS brand. I think all I have to do is remove the lines so I can get to the jets in the plate and then look for any numbers on them. Nitrous jet in the rear and fuel jet in the front.

I was poking around and saw that I do have a retard module already. It had some wires connected and some hanging, so I googled for the model and color codes. It turns out there are 3 retard modules and each one has a color coded wire, which is activated by connecting it's lead to ground. So you just use the one module you want, or connect them all to have the cumulative sum of retard degrees. Or connect them one at a time in a stepped system. So I have to find a way to see up there to see what degree module is in each slot. Also figure out a way to connect that lead to ground only when the nitrous solenoids are active. Also the module has a starting retard built in, I can connect that lead if I want to make it easier to turn the motor over at start. But this all takes electronic thinking because that would require the module to have power during start, whereas before I was thinking to only give the module power when the "arm" button is pressed for the nitrous system.

James that sound like a good plan. For a few dollars more, less work and have a better mount is the way I would go too.
I would hate to lose a free motor because I went cheap

That blue car won mayors choice, guess that would be best in show as that was the only award other than Korey;s choice that I think was that red olds that was at the end by the main street.

Like Tony I did not get away to check anything out or for food, not even to see the parade. If I was not at the trailer / table I was at the entrance by the train tracks only letting in show cars.
Someone said they could not get the sound system to work and to go check it out was the only time I was away for my post LOL.
I could not get it to work and found out Louis went of cables as he thought one was bad. Think the last time we used it there was a little issue.

We should be good for Decon Jones as Tony ordered cables and Louis is making some new USB music sticks.
Thing able the USB sticks they always start at #1 song every time they are put into the mixer and we keep hearing the same **** over and over.
Louis side he may bring his laptop and remove 20 or 30 of the first songs on the sticks.

On the NOS it sound like everything is there just have to go through it to make sure it is wired up right.
As for the start retard do ou have a push button for the starter and a IGN flip switch? Why I ask is a lot of time they get the motor spinning with the push button and then flip the IGN on for it to start.
Other wise I think you would need to wire in a relay to ground that 1 wire when cranking.
The same would be true for the NOS when armed the relay would ground that wire to retard the timing but when off it would be back to normal timing.
I never had a retard timing box just the MSD 6AL. I think I still have the RPM pills that came with it as I seen them in the carb pit box when I looked through it for the fuel fillings for you a while back.
I forgot I had them or I would have given them with the race car with everything else that I did.

I saw my hand shaking doctor today for a checkup, it has not gotten better even with the high dose pill so he gave me a 2nd pill to take and see how that works and if it dose not to let him know as they have other pills that may help.
He also wants me to stop me having caffeine. I do drink a lot of hot tea so going to try decaff again or only have 1 or 2 at most a day.
It was the only pleasure I had as Mary is after me on what I can eat and that is like nothing

I am on another med and at first was a lower dose and did not work so was bumped up as high as it goes and I feel it has not helped so he gave me this new med.
Its 1 pill a day for 5 days then 2 pills a day for 5 and then 3 a day. He did say it would make me sleepy and I only took 1 pill last night and man I just want to go back to bed.
One thing I did not ask was if I should stop taking the other pills when taking this new one? Guess I got to call him.

I have not done much to see if just the 1 pill helped yet but I think it has.
When typing on the laptop double letters would happen all the time and I only had a hand full so far.
Maybe now I can eat peas and keep them on the spoon, yes spoon, fork would just get them pushed on the floor
Sucks getting old

Josh, I asked about your show earlier, then realized in my "upcoming events this week" notification that Sanford triple crown show is next weekend, not last weekend.

Dave I didn't realize you were down at the far end, I just thought I missed you at the tent! All of the food was near me, food trucks and vendor booths in the little open area behind the building were I was parked. None of the food trucks jumped out at me as "great" and the little restaurant where I ate last year had a long line, so I based my lunch choice on who had the shortest line. That was White Swan BQQ, no line at all because everything is already made. You step up and say BBQ sandwich, they grab a bun, squeeze an ice-cream scooper full of BBQ on it, pass it to the next person who asks if you want coleslaw on it, then wrap it up and hand it to the cashier. So I had a quick easy lunch but it wasn't anything top notch, lol.

I agree I think the music needs some attention. The way I used to do it, I had a thumb drive with about 400 songs on it in 4 categories; oldies, classic rock, classic country, and 80's. All well known hits that people recognize and can sing along to, not the deep cuts that only a true fan might know. And the player we used had random so you didn't typically hear the same songs all that often. But Louis has his own way, it took him a while to understand & agree that music on a thumb drive sounds better than music being streamed from a phone, the sample rate is like 10 times higher.

Tom has gone back to NY, but Sunday evening before dark he wanted to get the Dart running again just so he could hear & feel it. Him and Wayne had "gone through" the carburetor when he got here 2 weeks ago, and had not had a chance to run the car yet. He wanted my help setting the float on the rear float bowl. So with the electric pump no need to start the motor just ran it and adjusted until it barely dribbled out the site plug hole. But then I noticed the turkey pan under his intake had standing gas on it, like 1/4 inch. I said I don't remember that much dribbling out! We soaked it up with an old shirt then hit the switch for the pump again, and here comes gas leaking down. So I felt around and said it was the accelerator pump. He had a new kit for the rebuild and found the correct one, pulled off the float bowl and removed the accelerator pump, was as dry crusty and hard as you could ever imagine and split right around the edge. I said I thought you and Wayne went through this carb? Well Wayne wasn't there to defend himself but apparently one did the front bowl and the other did the rear bowl, or maybe each thought the other had done the accelerator pump. But after putting a fresh one in and buttoning everything back up, we fired up the motor and Tom was grinning ear to ear. That 440 has some kinda deep rumble, every time he would goose it and make it roar for a second, tools and stuff would fall all the hood of the car next to it from the vibration. lol

Well I hope your hand shake doctor new med works for you. I was about to say give up caffeine? Because I never see you have coffee! But if you drink tea then I guess you can try the decaf there. Like you said the one pleasure you had left. lol. I feel like that with the sugar. Given up orange juice, coke, sweet tea, gatorade, cereal, waffles, and most french fries. Now I just pour sugar free syrup over a pile of carboard and gnaw on it for a while.

That Datsun, the VW Bug & VW Thing (orange) are in our car club. I am thinking they may of all been in the Prade but dont know as I did not see who was in it or at the school when they all got together.

Mary and friend when down looking for something to eat, it was late so stuff was closing, they got me a brisket sandwich from BBQ Lab and a bag of chips. Didnt get to eat any of it till I got home and it was OK.
It made the hunger pains go away.

Did Tom get anything done when he was down this time?
I never did get over there to bug him, I forgot for 1 but between doctors for me & Mary it would have been hard too.
The first time out in that car should be a trip to see as he seams to be all over the place not want you need for racing LOL
When I seen him at the shop I asked if he brough the Mustang and said no, no plates or insurance but did say he took someone for a ride laying black strips up & down the road ....... Kids

Well day 2 on the new pill has been better. Yesterday I felt so tired mostly in the morning even after a shower, almost went back to bed.
Today I was able to get right up and fell somewhat normal. Had to take Mary to Raleigh for her shot so I had to get up but felt good.
I also have not had the shakes till about now, I take the pill before bed, so it may be wearing off some who knows?
I know the doctor has me going on them a little bit at a time till I am up to 1 pill 3 times a day and see how that goes.
But if it stays where I am at now I would be happy.

Been watching the weather for Saturday and it's not looking good, Got 60% for wet
I plan on a trash run Friday after noon or when its not raining and then hook up to the trailer. I think I should be at Jones between 6:30am, & 7am if the show starts at 8am and we need to set up things.
Then again if it rains can we have a 2nd rain date? That would not be till Nov. as we got something going on every weekend till 11/15 and that is the rain date for St. Judes so then the 22nd.
How many would come out in mid Nov for a show?
Time will tell
