Received my iDash yesterday and performed the Stealth pillar mount. When I slid the pod all the way it canted off center just a little bit. Attempted to pull the pod back out to straighten it up but it's a NO GO. The pod is in the mounting hole so tight that I'm actually afraid I will pull it apart if I keep trying to remove it. I tried using a small tweaker screwdriver, got it to slid just a hair, but I'm really feeling like the pod is going to break it is so tight. It was my plan in the next few months to possibly add the Derringer/Pedal Monster but that's not happening at this point since I can't access it. I really feel like the only way to get the pod out would be to either heat up the stealth mount or to make a relief cut in it with Dremel.
My question for you guys is, I would assume others have been able to remove theirs after install.
Call Banks up and ask for the technical department as they have always been great when I've called.
I have the regular mount on the windshield so have no experience with the Stealth mount. Looking at that pics on their website, I would say if there's any way to get it out, it would have to be getting a very thin slotted screwdriver and get it between the iDash and the mount, and GENTLY, attempt to pry it out. If you do get it out, maybe some di-electric grease, or something, on the mount inside itself, to lubricate that in case you had to adjust the iDash again OR get it out.
Overkill, thanks for the response. I was going to call them latter when I got a few minutes. I tried the screwdriver but it sure felt like it was going to break.
just for reference, here is a couple of pictures with it seated in the holder.
It is a friction fit and it is surprisingly snug, however, mine comes out with a firm twist and a steady pull... I don't need to use any tools or apply lube, I just grip it with my fingers and give it a little twist as I am pulling it out. It hasn't damaged the iDash or the mount and it goes back in snug as a bug! Being new, it is probably just a little tighter, and you aren't used to the amount of force needed to remove it and being cautious?
Added photo of mine showing how flush it also fits in the mount.
Since mine has the HUD, the sticker is to the right of it, so I have plenty of space to put mine. I prefer it further towards the front anyway as its easier for me to see and focus on it without removing my eyes from the road. I had pillar mounted gauges on my previous DRW and I had to tilt my head back to focus on the top gauge as it was too close for me. Same as how the pillar mount would be from Banks. That and I would be whacking it reaching for the grab handle to get in and out of the truck. Heck there have been times I hit the light switch with my knee! LOL
Yeah no doubt those would have been good 20 years back and prior, but now... too close for sure... blurry.
I'll more than likely get a Stealth mount but for now, since I had my single iDash sticky mount in the basement, because my buddy's shop, when they pried it off the windshield for the yearly inspection sticker, ruined the sticky pad and I had to put that one on from the single... should be good to go now.

Dude, clean up your PM, tried to send you something that would get me in trouble posting here.
I spoke with Banks. They confirmed friction fit. They said to just pull on it and if the face gets damaged they would take care of me. Can't ask for any better customer response. They also advised that if it's that tight in the holder to take a Dremel tool and lightly sand the inside of the hole. I'm not going to mess with it until I get back home. I'm on a for the next couple of weeks.
