I am looking how to mount the overdrive shift cable to the transmission. My 1969 F-100 with 3 on the column with (non working) overdrive. I bought this without a shift lever connected. anyone with a picture or graphic or good description to help me mount this ? Thank you

My father had a 1960 Ford Fairlane with overdrive. The control was a push/pull cable that was mounted on the dashboard next to the steering wheel.
The dash is easy for me, (I see a bracket for attachment). What I am not sure of is where the cable mounts on the transmission, and with what bracket. I have a new cable but not sure where to mount, and if it mounts on transmission?
In the case of my Dad's car, the outer jacket of the cable was clamped down to the overdrive mechanism with the inner solid wire attached to the overdrive engagement level.
