I am looking to upgrade my headlights and taillights. It is so hard to drive at night, the visibility is terrible. I drive a 1995 f-150 with stock lights. What is the best/easiest/cheapest way to improve the visibility?
Difference was amazing and they plug and play. I did put new headlight buckets in at the same time. If yours are hazed over that could be a lot of the problem right there.
This is what my headlights look like right now, they are a little hazy but not the worst I have seen. Are they bad enough to have to replace them to see a difference?
It took awhile before I jumped on the LED bandwagon. I think the issues have been resolved so the products seem to be good.
I tend to work hard for my money so the I usually am not concerned how cheap I buy my stuff. The only LED headlamp bulbs I have used are made from Phillips. They tend to make good stuff and to date, I have not had any issues. I like the factory look and these aftermarket complete headlamp assemblies look terrible. I can only suspect they are built poorly too.
The complete headlamp is fairly cheap, with new LED bulbs, it will look factory and you can see at night too.
I bought new TYC factory housings and put in the relay harness kit. Then popped in some HELLA 80w/100w bulbs.
Work pretty dang good. Low beams High beams
I had LEDs at one point but they scattered too much with the factory style lens, and it gave me headaches.
Your lenses don't look horrible. You could just pop those LEDs in and try them. They plug right into the factory harness with no other hardware needed.
If you do decide to replace the buckets you'll also need new adjuster screws. I got it all from Bronco Graveyard. I measured the original screws to set the new ones to at least get the headlights somewhat initially aimed properly. It was chore getting it all torn down and reassembled.
Yeah, that's a good point, going to LED bulbs, kinda makes the relays pointless now. I had already added the relays in my trucks, many years back. We have all kinds of options of direct plug and play LED lights now. For anyone who hasn't done it yet, you don't know what your missing. LED bulbs are like vacuum brakes to hydroboost brakes; massive upgrade in saftey. If you had a problem seeing at night before, you're not likely going to anymore after swapping in a set of LED's. I won't have an incandescent bulb left in the '68 t-bird pretty soon (I was going to keep the headlights old school, but nah, they make retro style housings so, even those are getting changed out). I love LED's. The light is so white. That's what really helps. No more yellow tint to the light at all. They even cut through some fairly hard yellowing of my lenses in my F450 until I changed them. The LED's are very, very forgiving about hazing lights. The white light just cuts through it. Easier on the charging system and everything. No doubt batteries will be living a bit longer life. Just a good upgrade all the way around.
The update to the halogen back in the late 70's/early 80's was nice, but it wasn't this good! I'm sure there were folks on the fence about that changeover too. Get a pair guys. You wont regret it. Both of my trucks have LED headlights. So nice.
I certainly would not remove relays if I had them installed.
My take about LED's is that they have way too many positives vs the negatives. Only if you get a good set. If you are buying a cheap set, you will not like them.
