My 2023 XLT had a recall issued back in May. For the last several months Ford's website said "remedy not available yet". It has finally changed to:
Schedule your free recall service with a dealer.
The dealer might be able to complete the service at your location or pick up your vehicle and return it when the service is complete.
Issue Date 2025-05-12
Campaign 25S49/25V315
But it also says:
Remedy
Software is now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has released software for 25S49. Your vehicle is capable of Ford software updates. When automatic updates are turned on standard from the factory, the software will be downloaded to your vehicle over a private wi-fi network or through your vehicles modem through the cellular network.
It finishes with "call your dealer to schedule a time"
So what is it? I'll get the update OTA or I must call a dealer? Maybe it's just me but I'm confused. Has anyone received this OTA or is it a dealer visit?
Yes, it is an update that your dealer needs to do. Can take between 15 minutes or up to 7 hours depending on how many modules your particular truck needs to have updated to complete it. And your dealer won't know going in how long it will take. It'll either go right through or it won't. I've had a MachE in the shop since Friday and we finally had to go to engineering to see why the update won't go through. Still no resolution

Wow, thanks for the info and sorry about your struggles with the update.
Finally got around to taking it to the dealer (I'm sitting in the waiting area). He confirmed what you said that it could take up to 6 hours since several modules need to be updated. Crazy a software update can take so long. I have no choice but to sit here and hope for the best.

I went through this for about 10 months when my traction control didn't function when the switch was pressed. Modules updated, switch itself replaced, etc. Much back and forth between the tech and Ford engineering. Sometimes I felt like this was the only truck in North America that had this particular problem. They finally hit upon some combination that worked after several visits.
Ford gave me a free 3 year maintenance agreement for my troubles. I've used it twice so far for the mobile tech to come to the house for The Works oil change/tire rotation.
It took overnight, they gave me a loaner (great dealer). Updated APIM, TCU, & ECG using FDRS to complete recall. TCU and APIM would not update so they used TRON to get the updates to take. I've heard of FDRS, never heard of TRON. I post just for reference.
Ford sent me another reminder that I have that Recall outstanding. Checked with Ford dealer yesterday ( they had my truck in for my front brakes) and they said the system still shows the fix only works on 24+ trucks and nothing available for my 23.
Send me a copy of what they did if you can. I'd love to push my dealer to get it done. They are whinning that I'm 72,000 miles and past my 3/36 warranty and it'll cost me 6-8hours of tech time. Which I've been telling them BS.
