Oh lord Im an idiot. You're right...it just removed the bolt. Of course. Thing is my 3 foot pry bar is ratcheting and reversible and sometimes it clicks into reverse unwittingly. The 24mm socket was hanging at an angle so I assumed it snapped...and from the incredible boom.
My apologies.
So here is the bolt and of course now I have a minor leak.
Do I need to use a new bolt?
New seal?
Do the harmonic balancers need replacement at 250k miles?
I really don't want to put in more money until I get the truck running with the new cups/ remanufactured injectors.
No but replacing the harmonic balancer itself wouldn’t be a bad idea if budget allows.
Yes budget allows but first I wanna see if the injector and injector cup swap is trouble free before I embark on the pulley/dampener and oil pump.
If I can just reinstall the old crankshaft bolt and move onto running the truck for a 100 miles t test the injectors, then I can order the pulley and oil pump.
