Distributor
Note the timing mark comes up 2 times the 2nd time it is on the exhaust stroke.
If the old distributor is still in you can mark the distributor body where #1 plug tower is and pop the cap and turn the motor over till the rotor points to the mark you made and the timing mark should be close to #1.
If you are going to put that distributor back in also make a mark at the base of the distributor and where it goes in the timing cover. This way when you go to drop it back in you line the rotor up to the mark on the distributor body and at the base the 2 marks you made and it should start right up and be close to timed.
Unplug the wires from the distributor, cap off, undo the hold down bolt and pull the distributor out.
Note when you drop the distributor back in the way the gear is the rotor will turn as it goes in so you have to offset it as you start so it will line up when down all the way.
Also it may not drop down all the way because of the oil pump drive. If you turn the motor a little it should line up and drop down.
