Coolant check engine question?

Hi everybody I have a check engine light that would come on as soon as the engine would get to the first bar before "N" in normal. So i replaced the ect sensor and it was a bit better and it read in-between the "N" and "O" and stay but the check engine light didn't go away. Also once every drive it would rise to the middle and then go back down. So then i replaced the ect "sender" and now it reads the temp alot quicker and now settles down at the "M" so past the middle of the guage. But the light is still there lol. So do yall have any ideas as to what it could be possibly? Thanks

No but the computer does. I don’t know why you think it is a coolant sensor problem. Stop replacing parts and check for Key On Engine Off (KOEO) fault codes.

i want to say thanks for the the picture. I tryed this before and it didn't work lol. So i got a scanner and it would read codes but stopped reading anything and would just say pass 111. I got a 116 and 332 code. 116 is "engine coolant temperature higher or lower than expected" and the 332 is egr flow. I added a video that explains my situation better.

What the engine up to operating temperature?

I assume you did the KOEO test so when did you get those codes? Are they active or stored?

Once again, stop replacing parts! I asked before but you didn’t answer the question…was the engine up to operating temperature when you did the test? Since you aren’t sure when the code was output, I suggest you get a code reader like the Innovator 3145. It will display the codes and separate the active from the stored codes. If you never cleared the stored codes after replacing the EGR valve you are chasing a ghost.

EDIT: according to my instruction manual this is when you would get these codes
116 active or running
332 running or stored

You haven’t done the engine running test so you might be trying to fix something that isn’t bad.

It could have been the problem. Ill quit replacing stuff lol. I must have missed that question, but no when i tested, it was cold with both of those codes. I have the inova 3145 but it has no stored codes and says system pass 111 at operating temp and cold. I wasnt able to clear anything with the inova cus i dont think it can but ill go take a look at its instruction manual. Thanks ill do the test at operating temp with the other way and not the invoa.

The instruction for cleaning Stored Codes using your Innova 3145 starts on Page 37: https://csr.innova.com/Content/Manua...anual_3145.pdf

ok before I do that I drove the truck around and instead of going the th M it stayed at the R. Also I did the test after the drive at operating temp and I got a 111 and I did it without the innova

So after bringing the engine up to operating temperature, you no longer get Code 116. That is an indication when you ran the tests previously you did not have the engine warmed up before initiating the KOEO tests and Stored Code display. This is covered in the instruction manual starting on Page 25.

yes the time I got the 116 was from a cold engine. I just followed the page 25 instructions and I got a 111 for the (o) and for the memory codes (c) I got a 332 code which is the egr insufficient flow code. So I’m not getting any coolant codes anymore. Looks like I have been missing steps with the code readings. So thanks yall this is very helpful. So with the egr being a 332 why would my check engine light when running be only come on when the engine gets to temp. Is that when the egr starts the kick in?

Clear the codes. Drive the truck to see if the light comes back on. If yes, perform KOEO test. If the light is on then there should be an active code.

If you didn’t drive the truck after clearing the codes and the stored code was still there then you didn’t do it right
