It's been awhile since I posted .
culprit truck 07 f150 4x4 5.4 3v
I am getting a p0060 code . Bank 2 sensor 2
Easy fix right? Get a new 02 sensor, did that. Reset computer 26 miles later light back on. Hmm
so I had another 02 sensor that didn't need changed i put it in. 26 miles later light back on.
hmm must be cat issue I replaced it . Reset 26 miles later light on. Checked wiring at pigtail 12 volt key on engine off good. Ground good chased out signal wire to computer ...good.
Sent it to ford dealer. I gave up. They called said it needed ford sensor and new pigtail old one had corrosion. 650.00 poorer I got my truck back.
26 miles later light back on p0060.
Im at a loss anybody ever have this,? Truck goes bsck in monday morning. Would like to hear some fresh ideas aside from getting a new truck. Lol
Yes on the scope idea I'm hoping the dealership will do this Monday. Im sure they feel like they surely want to resolve this issue. This is why I'm posting this so maybe someone else can benefit. Once we get it solved. On another topic I just put 4000
in a new transmission. That was a fiasco too. Brand new rebuilt from autozone. I installed it and immediately got a code for 2-3 shift solenoid issue after this i sent it to ford and it turned out to be the lead frame inside transmission pan, plastic thing that attaches to solenoids. That is fine now . Although i still have to argue with autozone about this because that cost me 1200. At ford. To be fair they did have to install new transmission cooling lines. Uggh this truck
..
Just from dealership today. Apparently when I installed the transmission I got the wiring harness or wires in between bell housing and block at the top. So it seems I got to loosen bell housing bolts and create some space to fish the damaged wires out. Im completely embarrassed 😳
Yeah i know it. It just really irks me to no end. I know better than doing that and the funny thing is that while I was installing the transmission by myself when closing up the bell housing it didn't come back tight against the block ...I attributed that to dow pins dragging. So I just cranked down the bolts and viola this is how it goes. To be quite honest I think i knew something wasn't quite right at that point. At 63 I know better.
Well I dropped the transmission down today . I can consider myself lucky I actually only smooshed two of the wires in the harness that runs across the top of bell housing. They were the wires that go to the downstream 02 sensor. I was able to repair them and tuck them back in the harness . I finessed the harness some to be sure I won't do that upon installing transmission tomorrow. I used some really neat inline wire splicers that not only shrink wrap the wire but also solder the wires together in one shot. Pretty happy . Just want the check engine light to be gone.
Well ....I'm going to be the guinea pig here. I went with my fix as shown . I read conflicting stories from junk to pros and military that use them daily.
I did practice on bench with some scrap wire and there is definitely a learning curve. After 2 or three trial runs i was satisfied that it's as good if not better , definitely neater. I ran voltage thru the test wires and saw no voltage drop through 2 inline connectors. And I also had to get her done today this is my company truck. I will keep all posted if they give me trouble. Wish me luck I sure don't want to remove transmission again in my lifetime. Lol
Ok ran the truck today after 50 miles no cel. The tonight I went to home depot to get materials for tomorrow's job and while sitting at red-light. Stupid cel comes on. I couldn't wait to get home to throw the reader on it. P0430 thank God it wasn't the p0060. So it seems now that the bank 2 sensor works it has picked up that I need a cat on that side. I t just never ends....lol
on a good note all the indicators were green on the code reader.
