Yeah, I bought it in 2005 for $300.00 complete with electric start and tire chains. Mine's a 10HP 32" John Deere. It needed a carburetor rebuild and that's it. I took care of that, changed oil, lubed every Zerk I could find, and it's been great ever since! I'm not sure what year it is, but the manual for it was printed in 1995 so that seems about right. It has been through some severe stuff and a lot of hard work and is always ready for more.
Oh yeah, it did shake several bolts loose. I replaced them.

I'm hoping I never have to get another one. I'll keep this one going forever if I can, especially at today's prices! Shouldn't be too hard, though, since we moved somewhere where it snows a lot less than when we were near the Rockies. I haven't even had to start the snow blower in a year . . . and when the neighbors see it, they often do a double-take. I might have the only snow blower within a 50-mile radius.
the old techs were work horses , the old flat head brigs, hope it doesn't break your arm starting them as they DID not have compression releases built into the cams. something i well know from my 30ton log splitter. starting it was like starting my old 61 Harley, slowly find TDC than yank hard . brigs went with compression releases late. about the time they went to OHV ,plastic cams ,
lack of snow CC ,I'm with you, the new house sits at 500 feet elevation the old was 1400, old lots of snow, it could be raining in the valley, up top snow, at the new i needed the blower 2 times last winter, for 6 inches not feet,
true. wet snow the area gets the most due to being at 1803 feet June 19, 2025: High Point received 20.5 inches of heavy, wet snow in an unusual late-season storm
back to lawn mowers.how many are aware a honda v twin has a 1 piece head and barrel combo like a airplane engine? i didn't till one landed in my garage for a buddy,
I have a 2002/'03 Simplicity Regent lawn tractor, 38" deck, hydro trans with a Honda GXV530 engine. They made this for one year and sold for apprx $100 more because of the engine. It has stickers on the sides of the hood saying "powered by Honda". I love this machine as I'm a retired Honda powersports tech. The motor is OHC with rubber timing belts and a two bbl Mikuni carb., gobs of torque and smooth and silent. OP, are you still needing a replacement engine? I have a very low hour (3 hrs) Honda GCV 160 up for grabs.
