whats up ford enthuses,
i have a 1989 ford f-150, 302, 4x4. i just had the engine rebuilt and currently have around 5,000 miles on the new one. i think this only happens when its cold but im not to sure, but whats happens is that when i get down on it, full throttle, the engine seems to flood, i think thats the problem. it will pick up and go but then some time during 1 first gear it bogs down but only for a sec or 2 at a time then it picks back up. im not to sure whats wrong but i would like any advice i could get. thanks guys, fords rule.
hey guys thanks for replying, yea it is fuel injected, but im not quite sure what it is, when i had the engine replaced i had most of the lines replaced as well as the filters, i should look at the gas filter though, didnt think about that. when i get it back from the shop on friday i will post a new letter. its in the shop for new roters, calipers, pads, u-joints, and bushings, so ill give it a look in a little while. once again thank you for replying ill keep you informed.
i dont know if the timing is off because it idles fine and is fine when it warms up, which is also wierd. it seems to do the dying out at arond 3,200 to 4,000 rpms (just an estimate). ill ask my mechanic and see what he thinks.
ya it could possibly still be timing cause i had a truck 302 and stuff and man i had to get that timing just right to get it to run right.. but it ideled fine but just as soon as i got to maybe 3000 rpm it started to cut out on me but only when i gased it and after i timed it, it was ok... but ya it could be a vacume problem or leak also..... actually a number of things?
very cool, definitley sounds like my prob, ill most assuredly give it a look. no leaks though, and no vacuum problems though because i had all that checked a little bit ago, the vacuum that is. but thanks a lot for the advice i hope thats what it is. im heading out but i do have more questions later on. ill post tomorrow.
