Gas, toll, and food. You forgot about parking. That's at least $50.
You could avoid bridge tolls and bridge traffic by taking the 152 from Chowchilla to Gilroy. That will allow you to stop at Casa De Fruta for a bite to eat.
We love Casa de Fruta. We always stopped there for milkshakes at the Casa de Sweetshop, until they stopped serving milkshakes. Once we went into the restaurant and ordered milkshakes. They weren't as good, and it took forever.
They have a good marketing schematic. Turning a gas station into a destination. There are people who go there, just to go there. My X was one of those people. It was where she wanted to go, after a day at Gilroy outlets. Myself, on the other hand, did not get as much amusement out of the road trip.
She loved buying the produce and stuff from the gift shop. In my mind, it was overpriced. I never bought anything there. Not even the gas. Because I thought that the gas was overpriced.
It is a neat rest stop. A change of scenery for someone like me who is more used to truck stops with prostitutes. From what I recall, the food in the restaurant was acceptable. There was nothing to complain about. I would stop there if I'm passing through. But it's not a destination for me.
Happy Saturday No-Cal.
Nothing exciting going on here.
Just enjoying the cooler weather.
Wednesday night it rained, so I took the truck to church that night and let the Lord wash it for me. Gave me a chance to use that $108 light bar too.
My brother and I loaded up a truck full of goodies to sell at the All Ford Parts swap meet in Campbell tomorrow morning. Hopefully there will be a lot of buyers. I even loaded up my standard bore 5 bolt 289 block, 5 bolt COBRA scattershield, and a pair of original "Buddy Bar" COBRA valve covers. I've been storing that stuff for 20 years, it's time to pass it along.

.
I should load up my whole house and go to a flea market. Or open a thrift store.
We typically tip 20% in places where we think the service was really good, but we base the tip on the base amount of the bill, which was $111. So 20% of that is $22 (plus change). Looks like they're including the SF fee (whatever that is) in their tip calculations.
My SO likes to go to 22% because she is more easily influenced than me.
We don't tip at all at McDonalds or Burger King or Jack-in-the-Box or Taco Bell.
