Helmets vs. Seatbelts
I strongly believe in wearing seatbelts and helmets. I demand that everyone that rides in my car/truck wear their seatbelts, even if only for my sake so they do not kill me or my kid in crash.
But, if you are over 18 and can go get your head blown off defending your country who am I to demand you wear a seatbelt or helmet in your own vehicle?
Want to impose a law that really saves lives?
After your third drunk driving offense/conviction behind the wheel, we hang or shoot you.
If you have killed someone at your second or after drunk driving offense, we hang or shoot you.
That will save 10-20,000 innocent lives every year and lower insurance rates. Out of all the people killed in car accidents each year (50k?) - how many are the result of drunk drivers? 1/2?
