My OEM Ford Trailer TPMS isn't working. It has been showing a Trailer TPMS Module error on the dash. I took it into the dealer a couple weeks ago and they couldn't find anything wrong with the truck. They did not have my trailer to test with. When I plug into my trailer the error shows up on the dash within a few minutes.
Today, I connected my truck to a friend's trailer that also has the Ford Trailer TPMS system. While I didn't get any PSI values (since the trailer was stationary), I also didn't get any error shown on the dash.
I'm thinking that the problem isn't with the truck, it's with the module that gets mounted under the trailer. I pulled the TPMS cable and module from the trailer. I don't know if taking it into the dealer is going to help. I'm half inclined to just buy a new cable/module but Ford doesn't give them away.
Check your pins in the connector on the trailer side. I had one pin back out, I suspect it got pulled on while turning. I grabbed it with a needle nose pliers and pulled until it clicked back in.
It does sound like the trailer. Maybe or maybe not the actual repeater module.
First thing I would do is try to retrain the trailer TPMS sensors. I remember there was an error when I first installed and plugged in the TPMS system, and that went away once I trained them. Could also be one or more wheel sensors have failed or dead batteries.
It will be well worth buying the TPMS-19 training tool for this troubleshooting.
The TPMS sensors are new as of 2024. They aren't from Ford, but they are the right Mhz. They were working when I first installed them. The sensors that came with the Ford Trailer kit went with my prior trailer when I sold it.
I can (supposedly) initiate the sensors with my Autel TS601. However, the last time I tried to "talk" to them it didn't find them. I may have picked the wrong year, which means it was looking for the wrong Mhz. I don't work with the trailer TPMS sensors often enough to do it right the first time. Even if the repeater module can't find sensors to talk to, it should just fail silently and that's not what is happening.
Sorry to highjack this thread, but does anyone know how long the sensors last until they need to be replaced? Lately I get a random alarm on mine (not the same sensor), then it clears within a few mins. Was wondering if they need replaced.
Also (I know I have mentioned this in another thread), I do not get the tire temps and never have, They are Ford OEM sensors as well.

Typical lifetime for automotive TPMS sensors is 7 to 10 years. If you have higher load rated tires they may be blocking the signal. How close is the receiver to the axles?
2022 doesn't not have the temperatures. That feature was first seen in 2023.

My 22 does have pressure and temp with the OEM trailer sensors and I'm super glad it does, just had a tire hit 150 F. I'll be replacing all four based on age (5-1/2 years) and putting new OEM sensors in at the same time.

I'm off by one year then.
FWIW, the TPMS sensors send both PSI and °F. It's up to the receiving system what it does with that. Most systems show only PSI. With my TPMS tool I can hold it up to the sensor and get both PSI and °F. That doesn't do me a lot of good going down the road of course.

I don’t know how I got it, but psi and temp show up under “trailer info” on mine. Maybe from the fifth wheel prep package or pro trailer backup package? Anyway, mine threw up an alarm when the temp got to 150.

Much appreciate the info. I didn't know that pre 2023 it wasn't available.
I talked to a buddy and his sensors sometimes throw an alarm and then clears right away. Not sure if that's normal. Mine just started doing it randomly. It was only twice in a week. The sensors are approximately 5 years old.
You might experiment with relocating the TPMS repeater box. Getting it closer to the axles might help. You've a pretty long fiver there.
What I find very annoying are these two things.
My '24 trailer TPMS will show me temperature as well as pressure. But my truck will only show me pressure.
My '24 truck will show me trailer T & P while cruising down the highway. But it won't show my truck pressures unless I stop moving. Why is it safe to look at one but not the other?

It's worked fine for 4 years. This just started. Doubt that will help, but I guess I could try. Biggest thing is the trailer tire temp. I'm told only 2023 and newer have that. However, KSHOOP1958 has a 2022 and his OEM trailer sensors show both temp and pressure which leads me to believe that I may have a set of older sensors. I really don't think this has anything to do with the year of the truck.
What's interesting is the notice I received in the mail made no mention of the OTA update. I only found out about the OTA update when I called the dealer to make an appointment, but they said it could take a month for the OTA to happen. Since I have trip planned with our 5th wheel, I opted to go to the dealer. I am glad to see I wasn't losing my mind, as I also had to reset "my view" gauge selection.
