Recently purchased a F350 platinum to tow a travel trailer. When I first connected my trailer I saw a screen that said something like no trailer TPMS detected. So I thought all I needed to do was installed sensors in the trailer tires. I bought and installed in the trailer tires the same sensor as installed in the truck tires. But, I can not activate the trailer TPMS sensors. Was my initial assessment incorrect? Do I need to purchase a receiver or some other item? My preference is monitor the trailer tire pressures on the truck screen not via a separate monitor. Can someone help?
It’s not that simple. You need to buy the trailer TPMS kit from Ford. I have it and it works great. There’s also a kit that includes a rear camera for your travel trailer if you prefer that.
You need the TMPS module and cabling. The module mounts on your trailer, along with a different receptacle on the back of your truck. You will then plug in two cables from your trailer, one for the trailer, the other for TMPS. You can also run the rear trailer camera off the same harness but I believe Ford does sell just the TMPS harness/module.
What others are saying is correct, to get trailer TPMS on your driver screen you need Ford's module, cable, and tpms sensors. The sensors send a wireless signal to the module, and the module (mounted on your trailer) gets plugged into your truck with the included cable. If your truck's bed has two plugs you're all set. If not, the kit comes with a plug you can swap into your bumper. Where it gets a little tricky is which cable you need. If you have TPMS and Pro Trailer Backup Assist (PTBA), the cable has a "Y" end that connects to the TPMS module and the PTBA yaw sensor. If you have TPMS, PTBA, and the Ford trailer mounted camera, the cable has a "W" end that connects to all three.
I have all three available on my truck but I ended up not using PTBA. (For some reason my brain works better backing up the old school way.) I do love the camera and the TPMS though, because everything is nicely integrated in my Sync 4 setup. If you don't have Sync 4 you'll need to do some research to see what's different. I've heard that the camera doesn't work at speed, for example.
Good luck!

That's for the input. I know now that I need the module kit. I should have asked first before I went out and purchased the trailer tire sensors. Does anyone know the pn for the Ford TPMS kit only?

To add the Customer Placed Trailer TPMS kit to a vehicle as an accessory (post-delivery), the vehicle must be equipped with the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System (874) and Sync 3.
My apologies for reviving an older thread. I recently had a axle failure on my gn trailer where one entire hub assembly was ejected damaging the axle spindle. Unfortunately, I didn't detect any noticeable change in towing which caused further damage.
My truck came the Tow Technology Package, 360 degree camera package, and the YAW harness assembly underneath the rear seat. Are these the only items I need to add to the truck/trailer to get the trailer TPMS, Rear Camera, and YAW functional on the dash?

I run 125psi 17.5 tires and have used independent TSTtruck sensors for over a decade. Would like one less thing on the dash…
Can you set alarm levels for psi and temp, or are they fixed at _% above initial setting?
After initial setup, will you automatically get a visual and audible alarm when the set temp or psi is exceeded, with that screen popping up, or must you have the trailer psi screen or temp screen up and visible to get the alarm?
Thanks in advance.
PS, yes Nichols guaranteed steel versus rubber valve stems and Nichols extension cable to locate the module closer to the long trailer axles are a real plus.

I do know you can set the lower thresholds at whatever you want and you should get a light or alarm when that threshold is breached. I run around 80 psi think I keep mine set on 70 psi. However, I cannot say/remember if there is an upper threshold that can be set. When I'm towing, I keep my trailer tire pressure screen active and I'm periodically monitoring trailer tire psi and temp.
Maybe someone with more experience or link to literature can chime in soon.
Have have had the Ford 5er camera and yaw sensor operationalfor quite some time. Just added Ford’s trailer sensor module and 4 tpms sensors. Plugged everything in but truck does not recognize that I added the TPMs module let alone the 4 sensors.
Do you remember how you got the truck to look for that added module? Did you need to drive the trailer with sensors installed for a few miles in order for th3 truck to figure out anything changed? Something else?
Thanks in advance,

Where did you look? I do not get a separate notification for the TPMS. The trailer tire temperature and pressure are displayed on the center dash under towing, they are not on the Sync screen. The data from the sensors usually is displayed within the first 1/4 mile driven.
go back to your initial install. What if anything did you see once everything was hooked up to trailer with truck running?? My trailer camera works. But nothing anywhere indicates Ford sees the trailer tpms module or sensors.
Did you need to drive before the “enable/activate” screen showed up ? - the one that wants you to let air out of tires (or use device) on each trailer tire in sequence? How/when did that first show up? Settings? Features? Maintenance?
I have big screen and when in trailer tow drive mode the trailer info on the left replacing the tach. (Like others, I lose my instrument screen in the middle when on trailer tow mode. ). Nothing prompts me to let out air in any of the above.
yes on center above steering wheel I have and can toggle through tire pressure, but only truck shows.
Thanks in Advance.
