Hi,
Just inherited a 1989 F-150 5 liter and having issues getting it to start. (I has been barn stored for about 3 years and not started during that time). I replaced the battery, and the alternator was replaced recently as well. The problem is that you turn the key and hear a click and it shows low battery (about 8 volts). But if you do this say no more that 5 times, it will start up and run like a top. But the next time you start it, it may do the same thing. Is this a known issue with the older F-150s? The truck is an amazing shape and low miles so really want to get her running great if I can.

Condtion of the battery cables and connections? Shows 8V on the gauge? What is the battery voltage at the battery? Not a common “known” problem. You have something going on with that particular truck.
