My brother has a 2012 f150 3.5 ecoboost. It has two codes. P0151 and P0299. The o2 sensor code has been there awhile but the P0299 is fairly new. The truck makes very little power, it starts and idles fine, drives down the road ok. Its like the turbos are making no boost. Driver side turbo was replaced last year and the passenger side about 2 years ago. Looking for any help on what it could be. Did a little research and thought maybe it could be the turbo bypass valve but dont want to just throw parts at it. Any help would be appreciated
I had a similar thing happen to me on my Ford Explorer with a 2.3 echo boost and it turned out after the body shop had worked on it Apparently they didn’t tighten one of the air hoses to or from from the turbo and the clamp was loose, which caused a loud bang while I was driving which caused the same lack of power you’re talking about. All I could do is run around in limp mode. Took it to the dealer and they quickly found the tube that had blown off and replaced the clamp and re-tightened the clamp to the torque specs and everything was fine after that.
p0299 means turbo A is underboosting, or not making pressure, start by going over and inspecting the hoses and clamps, check the wastegate make sure it closes,
please take note that code means FIX ME asap, as it could possibly lead to major engine damage if let go to long .what could happen? possibility of a piston burning from running lean
the other code the o2 sensor is not making the voltage possibly from a lean mixture, both could possibly be related . lean running
