Sure, I have my phone bluetoothed to my truck, mainly to listen to Pandora. But it can be annoying, as the audio volume for text alerts about blasts me out of the cab. It's the same high level at any music volume. Has anyone found a way to dial it down or even turn it off? I don't need text alerts while driving, I wouldn't look at them anyway until I was stopped.
What kind of phone..? On my Samsung if you push the volume button, up or down, then push the 3 dots on top of it, it'll show all the volume settings, I keep my notifications down low so I don't have this issue after the first time it blasted me out. If an apple product, no clue! 😂
So I think if you silence your phone, or put it on vibrate, it will cancel the notification playing thru the truck speakers. But sometimes it needs to be on, I get it. To adjust the volume of the text tone or ring tone, you have to adjust it while the actual tone is playing - you can't adjust them separately in any other setting. So, if you have someone with you, get them to either call you or send you a text (you may even be able to text yourself) and adjust the tone when you hear it by using the volume up/down ****. I think it uses the volume of the last call you took - and I agree, sometimes it blows me out of the cab.
Yeah that was one thing about my Ram that I liked - I could control phone volume separately from music volume any time I wanted. Can't do that with Fords, it only adjusts whatever is actually coming out of the speakers at the time. It can only be adjusted while the tone is playing - though while it's ringing is the same volume setting and should let you adjust it down.
Update... I use an Android Pixel. If I turn the volumes of text and ring down all the way, the truck still blasts. If I turn the phone on do-not-disturb mode, still blasts. On the phone tab of the center display I saw a do-not-disturb button, that quiets the alerts. I don't mind, the phone's display still lights up, so I can see if there's a call or text. And oh, yeah, the memory save buttons don't save the do-not-disturb, so I will have to set it when I want it. That's mostly on long drives when my wife is reclined and asleep.

Thanks for having given this a shot.
Interesting... maybe because mine is an XL it doesn't do it..? Or maybe diff phone..
Here's how I was able to permanently silence the text alerts from my Samsung phone coming through the truck speakers. Maybe it'll help you out
1. Connect the phone with bluetooth to the truck like you normally would
2. If you're connected to android auto, go into the phone list and tap the AA icon to disconnect from AA but keep your phone connected with bluetooth
3. Tap the phone icon next to your phone name
4. Tap on phone settings
5. Now you'll see text settings, there you should be able to toggle message chimes off
6. Reconnect to AA and enjoy receiving messages in peace forever
Going off memory a little bit so hopefully those are the correct buttons to tap
catengi's comments got me thinking outside the cab. I went into my Android settings>connected-devices>SYNC>settings. In there you can see sliders for phone, audio media, contacts, AND text messages. I slid the text messages off, and now the truck doesn't see them anymore. Yay!
Now I do need to do a "I'm driving" bounce back for the texts in case someone texts me something important, they will see that, and not be impatiently waiting for a call back.
Thanks to all of you who played along with my post.
Mine did the same thing; here is how I fixed mine. I had to send myself a few text messages in a row. Have your hand on the volume **** on the radio and when the sound goes off in the truck quickly turn the volume down. The first time I turned it down all the way and subsequent self text messages I was able to dial it in.
My navigation was really loud and I couldn’t find a setting for the volume. Finally discovered that the volume **** will turn it up/down while it’s talking. So next time it prompts and starts tapping loudly, just turn it down while it’s talking.

This. But, I'm also pretty sure if you just have it read the text out load, you can adjust the volume as it's reading it. It's the same loudness for both the voice and the notification.
Solved, thanks everyone! Yes, adjust it while fooling with a text. After returning all other settings to normal to get the blast alert, I had my wife send a text. I pushed "read text", and with my combination of Verizon and truck, doing that starts off with reciting the sender's name, time, duration, cell tower, blah blah blah for about 30 seconds before getting to the actual text content. I had plenty of time turn the volume **** down. And it has stuck through a couple key cycles. Thanks x2!
