ignition problems
thanks, sean
Good Luck
If you follow down the steering column where the ignition switch was there is a little bar that connects into the switch. That is how the switch knows when the key is turned. If that bar is not connected into the switch correctly the key won't turn.
What I did was I put the switch back on but did not tighten it. I moved it up and down the steering column until the switch grabbed the bar and then I tightened the switch. I hope this helps and I didn't confuse you.
Naww Ya didnt lose me. That is the bar that I was talking about. Now if I remember correctly, you need to make sure the switch is in the run position, then slide in your cylinder, in the run position, then tighten it down. For some reason that is how the Haynes manual says to line it up. Prolly something from the factory to do with keeping people from removing the cylinder and swiping your truck without having a key to begin with. I know that most people say to disconnect your battery before doing anything with the electrical, but in this case, you may want to have it connected to make sure you are in the right position while setting that bar in the right place. Also you can make sure nothing is in the way of the bar and that it will still start the truck by pushing on it. At least you will know there is nothing in the way of that.Good Luck!
