Chasing Rattles

Hi everyone. I lurk here and there and have read alot over the last four years so first off, thank you to everyone that shares their information.

Just got finished doing all, brakes, rotors rear calipers and all four shocks. Much better ride. Now I am chasing interior rattles. Ordered the F150 door strikers and they are due to arrive tomorrow. Took me a while but I found the source of some really loud clanging in the rear.

The interior panel around the rear a/c unit is extremely loose. I starter taking things apart an noticed there is a plastic strip that mounts where the rear vent window screws into the window frame. This plastic strip has the slots for the rear panel to snap into. Either someone has worked on the a/c unit prior or has replaced the rear vent window and must have broken this in the process. Half the strip is missing so the panel has nothing to clip into. It appears the plastic mounting strip goes behind the nuts for the window studs. This is the last thing I believe I need to stop my interior rattles. Havent been able to find anything on this part. Does anyone have any clue what its called or if its still available?

Side note... I fixed the panels for the middle fold down seat. The velcro was shot so I used some snaps for a marine canvas. So much nicer and snaps in firm. Thanks in advance!

Discontinued from ford. I was always on the lookout for that part in junkyards and grabbed a couple as spares. They get extremely brittle and are under pressure from the window frame nuts. When the nuts are tightened they create a concave pressure on the plastic due to the pinch weld crater around the stud , which over time creates a weak spot. I added flat washers to shore this up. Once I found a few in unbroken and decent shape I reinforced two of them with flat bar, either galvanized, or aluminum that fit in the channel between the screws and used a gutter sealant to glue them in place. Silicone paste was also used on the spring clips for the trim panel so the clips snap in and out without putting too force on the plastic receiver.

This is the most common seat back remedy for those panels.

Dude this is awesome. Excellent job! Thanks for the pictures and explaination. Definitely something I can handle. I have everything I need to do that in my shop except the aluminum. Easy enough to get. Now if I could just find the piece in good shape. I will be scouring junk yards and part out posts I find online for one.
