In October, my '22 F150 XLT 302A will be 3 years old. I've complained about what I say is an under powered battery (H6), I'm sure it doesn't help I've got several accessories running off the battery as well. Anyway, I'll be replacing it with an H7 battery in the next month or two.
Just curious what brand batteries do folks like (bang for the buck type)? I was contemplating using Interstate battery from Costco. But O'Rielly's carries Optima, as well as AC Delco. I had a Camero, Tahoe and Honda Accord that all came with an AC Delco and I had very good luck with, that might be sacrilegious tho AC Delco in F150. I just want to step away from a motorcraft battery.
I switched my truck to Odyssey Extreme four years ago. Most weeks my truck is only used one day a week, and sometimes my truck goes two weeks without starting. I used to get the low battery notification every week with the original battery. I have never gotten the low battery notification with the Odyssey.
I always buy Super Start from O'Reilly. The last one I had in my F150 lasted 6 years. That's a record for me. All of our vehicles have them. They far outlast OEM batteries. And, if I should ever need to warranty it, the store isn't that far away.
I always buy local. Ends up being WalMart or Napa. But always someplace that exists nation wide so if I need to warranty it then it's easy to replace. I also drive a lot. Truck hardly ever sits. So I've never had problems. Love my 2021 F-150 Supercab, long bed 4x4 with the 5.0
They are too expensive no matter where you buy. I get Motorcraft because I get a small discount as a retired former employee. I had to buy one for my Honda the other day, It was almost 200.00 for a 4 year warranty on an Everstart AGM 24F series battery at Walmart. Again I got it there because my daughter works there and gets a 10 percent discount. There are only a few battery manufacturers in the USA.
in today's world bigger, fails to mean better, we are not in the late 60's where many of us took a ruler to the battery box ,found the biggest that fit it ,for the replacement, AKA one for a 69 mopar hemi into a 70 351 powered mustang , the old bigger is better thinking, back than it was more a fact, we didn't have, gear reduction starters, save in the mopars and large diesel trucks, we used what we had available. we made high torque starters using a 6 volt armature in 12 volt cases, and they could crank so large compression race motors,
today simply get a battery with the biggest amp punch in what fits the oem location, if one is having issues with keeping up power levels due to items ,say a 1000 watt booster amp for a boom box, feed right off the battery with o gauge wire. upgrading the alternator is one way to go,
and yes there are only a small handful of companies making batteries today , in the USA there is only three, johnson controls, exide, and east penn, they manufacture for many other labels, globally we can add clarios, GS yuasa , and robert bosch ,
I use Odssey batteries exclusively!!! Cost more? Yes. Worth it? IMO YES !!!
Check them out.
I have used Odyssey Battery exclusively for 15-20 years. I started with the old Sears Platinum Diehards and used them until Sears started selling their own AGM batteries. I've used Odyssey in truck, boat, tractor, zero turn, etc.
I have bought new Motorcraft batteries to trade trucks before so I could pull my Odyssey to use in my new truck..
I just recently traded my F250 6.2L info an F150 5.0L. I was going to pull my Odyssey until it appeared that the 2024 F150 had a different size batttery (94R) and it is a Motorcraft AGM. I decided since was a new size and my Odyssey was about 6 years old that I would let it go and try the new Odyssey AGM. We'll see.
I guess if you pay more than double for a battery you would want to transfer it to your next vehicle. You should expect double the service life for double the price.
The Computer controlled charging systems can allow for better battery life with the high-end warranty batteries.
Starting and warm up times in inclement weather may be helpful. Long travel miles at constant speeds also.
The Battery in my F150 was installed at build time early 2016 with high end Electrical system.
It's just fine. 165,000 + miles on the Odometer. Hope it goes another year.
Obviously it's had early years of well over 20,000 + ! ...

That's just it, unfortunately I don't drive this thing enough. Almost 3 years and only 18,130 miles. I'm going to get a new battery (H7) next week. Hopefully then, it will do the updates. I know one was better battery management.
Walmart for batteries. Always. They're 50% or more less cost, have a better warranty, and are great performers. There are only 2 or 3 companies that make all the battery brands you see. Why pay double?
