CACT12 Reading
I'll try to remember that about Rock Auto.
We have AutoZone, O'Reillys, Advance Auto, which are local, and NAPA which 25 miles away.
I'm thinking this guy is going to be my go to mechanic when I need one.
Have to get things in order for the trip to AZ, our reunion with the 35th Infantry Regiment Association in two weeks.
Have a safe trip and enjoy Ken.
But I still a have problem with the PID on my iPhone where it shows sensor CACT12, -40 and a voltage 2.52 or less some times.
He said the voltage showed bad on the sensor he changed before he changed it.
And after he changed it the temp was 101deg F and the voltage was normal. I don't recall the exact voltage he had said. I was not watching his scanner at the time.
I'm going back tomorrow to get him to run through that while I watch.
And take a photo of the name of the sensor on his scanner that he will be looking at concerning the charge air cooler.
My iPhone is F'd up on those charge air sensors. That's on two different iPhones.
Maybe I should reinstall the app.
I tried, but I'm not very swift on viewing the CAC PID's with Forscan and the laptop.
I didn't know which group they were in.
But I'm not familiar on how to find the PIDs with Forscan.
Also, the high priced professional scanner that the mechanic used, displays different information than what Forscan does.
Banks also has a PID for the IAT sensor, the one you changed out, called IAT1/1 (Bank 1 Sensor 1).
I worked a sidejob after work today. Got in the truck, started it and played around to find those two PIDs listed under the Temperature category... I have a second screen set up that I change when I need to and monitor stuff.
Here's the two temps listed of MAT and IAT1/1 at start-up.
On the I90 Thruway (highway) driving at 62 on cruise.
Came down more...
On the expressway now at 65 mph.
Ambient air temp
Doing 70 and still on expressway..
It was wild that once off the expressway and shooting up the hills going home, when I stepped on the throttle, you could see the MAT go up which makes sense because it's getting hotter under the hood from the engine, turbo and exhaust gas temps... but the IAT remained relatively the same...
Just thought I'd post this up for you..
The mechanic's scanner description was Charge Air Cooler temperature sensor circuit high (Bank 1)
Nothing is different on the sensors that I was monitoring.
I brought the thermistor home to check it out with my fluke VOM.
It is a good sensor. It is NTC. Negative temperature coefficient thermistor. Temp goes up resistance goes down, and vise versa.
Today we arrived at our destination in Chandler, AZ after a 1,300 mile trip from the east side of TX.
I don't want to jinx it, but the truck did good.
The distance between regen milage got better during the trip. And got 19.2 mpg driving 70 and 75.
I'm used to seeing 14.5 mpg.
Other than that,
It is HOT here.

Good to hear truck is doing well...
Remember Ken, its a dry heat...
