I've had F-350 and F-450 KR pickups for the last 20 years. My current truck is a '22 F-450 KR with nearly 27,000 miles. Best truck I've ever owned. I've had it almost four years now and have a 5year/100,000 mile Ford extended warranty on it. Oil changes every 4000 miles, fuel filter every other oil change, all done by the dealer. The sensible thing would be to keep this truck but I'm thinking about trading some time in the future and going back to a regular cab dually, probably an XLT with the 7.3 gas engine since the truck sits so much. Not for sure on the gas engine yet. Needless to say I don't put many miles on a truck now but I haul heavy when I tow, either hauling farm equipment, hay or cattle. I put even less mileage on it since I bought a '25 Bronco Badlands. My truck would be worth about an even swap for an XLT. Are the newer trucks changed enough to trade?
There have been some technology upgrades, so that is up to you whether it interests you. It has lane centering and Adaptive Cruise control available, for instance.
The 23+ ride better, but unless you are unhappy now it wouldn't seem a reason to get rid of a good truck.
Controversial bed side step.
10 speed transmission on all versions.
I like my truck, and if I had to choose between a new 22 and a new 24/26 (at their original prices), I would go with the newer truck. I don't think I would trade out of the 22 this soon though.
Also, they decontented the 25 too much, and brought some things back on the 26, but I don't know if it is back to the level of the 24, so the value of the 26 might not be as good.
Just keep what you have IMO. Delete it once your warranty runs out, then you won’t have to worry as much about it sitting (and problems with the emissions system as it ages)
I had a 2019 Lariet 6.7. put on 150k miles before trading in on a 2024 7.3 xlt . I hated the 2019 compared to 4 previous superdutys. This 2024 I love as they changed things to the better and saved a ton of money over a Lariet and 6.7. Lariets are coming with a whole bunch of expensive stuff now that doesn't work for me like they advertise. So back to basics and I love the lxt with a few options I needed.
The XLT's are loaded compared to the trucks I had even 15 years ago. I feel like I'll keep this truck for another year, at least until the end of my extended warranty. I intend to test drive a 7.3, may not like it but it might be the ideal engine for my use. There's a couple of '25 F-350 6.7 XLT regular cab duallys at the dealer I use. Whether I stay with the 6.7 or go with the 7.3 I'll probably get a regular cab next time I trade.
