Has anybody installed those rain door window visors for the truck. They seem self explanatory, they fit in and have holes for three screws but surely there has to be a better way than just sending the screws through the window seal?
These were installed by the PO, and not very well on the blue truck. Maybe some of that new body panel adheasive would work?
You can see where they did not have the shade seated, before that ran the screw tight. This is the middle one.
The PO of this one did a better job.
I've used a few sets since the '70s. You need a sharp small bit for the pilot holes and a bit of tape helps until drilled in center of metal rolled edge. Add some sealant as you insert / tighten the screws ... or tape to the joint and apply some clear in the joint on outer side, then remove the tape. I put them on my '77 in the '80s, removed them and after a spell, re-installed them on my new doors a couple years ago. Screw doesn't go into the window seal, it goes into the door's window frame. The lip of the vent visor inserts between the door window frame and the metal of the glass channel.
A urethane type adhesive might work for a short while, but in time is gonna give up I think.
You can use strong tape or small rubber washers to avoid damage, yet some use screws through the window seal. It keeps the visor secure and protects the seal without causing leakage.

Mine are screwed into the door frame. One of the two previous owners installed them. When I had the truck painted, the body shop guys polished the rain shades and now they look really nice.
