Couldn't find much in popular threads regarding the 360 camera system. I've already determined that a blocked bed view cam does not negate 360 birds-eye view capability, but what happens when you have tow, such as a 5th wheel TT? Can a remote-mount camera be added to the rear of the tow in order to retain full functionality, including 360 and back-up?
If I remember correctly, it is possible to add cameras not only to the rear of the trailer, but the sides as well and have access to these views in the related modes.
I am not sure if the trailer rear camera would automatically come on when you place it in reverse or not, but the view is definitely available for you to use.
I haven't seen anyone install trailer side cameras, so it is not clear if the 360 degree view works with that, but I don't think it would. Once the trailer is misaligned the view would be wrong.
The side views provided by the factory use a camera in the mirror base. It cannot show the trailer sides as well.
You would need the 'trailer reverse camera prep' or whatever the technical name of the package is. Or the equipment found in it, to be able to add the reverse camera to the trailer. As noted, it won't give you the side view of the trailer though.
Several people have done it on here, added the system, and I think they've listed what part numbers they needed for the wiring harnesses and cameras (and BLIS system for the trailer - at that point you might as well go all-in). You will also need a dealer to enable the programming, or get ForScan and do it yourself.
