But 1982 was the second year of the 17 digit VIN, 1980 the last for the 11 digit. The F77 is not listed at all in the '73-'79 Master Parts Catalog.
H = 370 2V or 4V
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
A57184 = serial number but it does not seem to match the ranges shown for '82 and up. It does match '81, 1976 and 1967. But you can't have a '67 as the Kentucky Truck Plant opened in 1969.
Look for casting numbers that start with things like "D6TA" or "E2TA" or anything with that pattern. These first four digits tell the revision date of the part, so that will tell more about when this was produced.
So it's a roller--no engine or trans? Check the axles for those numbers as well.
The guy I got it from thought it may have been an 89. It is just a roller, frame, axles, transfer case, drive shafts, Passenger side large rectangular gas tank with a step, steering gear box and front bumper and small misc attachments. It has the 2 rectangular charcoal canisters above the passenger front tire. I have seen other F700s with the 6 lug axles, but that doesn't mean they weren't swapped or something. Supposedly this was a mine water truck. The spring hangers on my 99 F800 are stamped steel not cast like the mystery chassis. It looks like I could unbolt them and swap on the 4x4 hangers.
Rear spring, front hanger DOHA-5786-D
Front spring hangers,
Both are cast Ford parts, EITD-5335-AB
EITD-5340-AB
Front shock mount, cast part , EOHT-18184-AA
Partial front leaf spring number painted on top, ... TD53 1 OR F UAA
The front bumper looks the same as my 99 f800 but I don't know what year range used that bumper. Also it has the tow hooks and front frame horns looks the same as my tilt hood 99 F800.
Axles are an FDS 75 front with 6.83 gears, disc brakes, I cant find a rear tag but its LG brakes.
The transfer case it a single lever shift type, only tag I can find is a Weller reman tag. No t case park brake.
The steering gear box and drag link like Identical to my 99 F800.
The front leaf Springs look to be 4 inches wide
I am not quite sure yet. I may yank the axles and transfer case and put them in my 99 F800 5.9 6 speed but then I would need a brownie box and possibly an OD transmission.
the F800 has 4.11 gears and does 70 mph just fine. These axles are 6.80.
6.80 is pretty extreme, overdrive trans and an auxiliary trans may not get to where the Cummins is happy. Cool thing though. I'm from minnesota, its amazing how rust free your colorado stuff is. Back home that 25 year old frame would have zero paint left.
Yes 6.80 is deep. I have 6.20s I might swap in or buy some 5.29s , or huge tires, or use with a higher revving engine.
I can not do rust. Absolutely not. I would have an aneurism.
I almost have too many options, but I think I have a plan for most of it.
