New batteries

My Godzilla has two batteries and two alternators.
Have been thinking about upgrading my batteries to AGM. If I do this do I have to use forscan to change any of the settings? Anything I should know before I try this? Thank you!

It's easy, two changes in Forscan. Change from flooded to AGM and then perform a battery reset, which tells the truck that the batteries are new.

Did yours not come with AGM from the factory? I got the same package and both of mine are AGM.

You know I haven't really even checked. I just assumed they were regular batteries. I will take a look tomorrow and Report

So I checked the batteries as you suggested and found out they are indeed AGM batteries. So I will now delay my purchase as these batteries should last 3 to 5 years. Good catch on your part. Thank you so much!

This has come up before. But I'm not sure a final answer was found. My '24 has a single battery and a single 250a alternator, and that battery is a flooded L/A. It seems as though Ford uses AGM in the dual battery option, regardless of alternator options, and FL/A in the standard single battery version. But like I said, not final answer. Best to always look under the hood.

This was true in prior years... my 2023 single battery was a standard (flooded) battery, but my 2025 XL came with an AGM... which I believe is now OE going forward. Thank goodness. I had to change out my OEM battery in my 2023, already... it was leaking. The diesels, and other dual battery setups in prior years, and probably the high output alternators, came with AGM's previously.

2022 dual battery and high output alternators were flooded batteries. I replaced mine with Walmart AGMs around 40k miles.

Well... and I wonder if they didn't start making the transition to AGM in 2023... and it just took that long to get the supply to catch up. I'm happy as a pig in slop my 2025 came with an AGM... I'll replace the 2023's with an AGM next go-round.

It was 23 or 24 they switched to ALL 6.7s got AGMs and then dual battery 7.3s in one of those years and single battery 7.3s were the last to get them. They must have had so many warranty claims for the discharging gasses corroding the hold down brackets and the flooded batteries just dying prematurely that they made the full switch. When they told me they would only do a direct swap from flooded to flooded I cancled my warranty claim and just paid out of pocket for the Walmart AGMs.

I didn't fool with Ford... I figured if I made a claim, they would just give me another leaky battery. I would rather just do it meself... because I know it will be done right.

It started in 2023. My dual-battery 7.3 has AGMs.
