Looking at possibly putting some 275 70 18 F250 wheels on my 4wd Ex.
Would I still need wheel spacers?
I'm currently running stock height with factory 16s 285 75 & no rub. The 250 wheel/tire is .4" thinner but also .4" taller.
If the 18” F-250 wheels are anything other than the ‘04 variety which correctly fit our EXs, then yes you would need a set of 4 hubcentric spacers in a 2” thickness to avoid having to cut down your lug studs.
I have the factory 2004 one year only 18" wheels on both our trucks which are about an inch wider than the factory 16" wheels with the same offset. I have 275/70/18 tires on the wife's 2wd Excursion and there is plenty of clearance. I have 295/70/18 tires on my 4wd F350 SRW and they rub the spring pack slightly at full lock on the passenger side, so the 275's should be fine.

From my understanding wouldn't that be bc you 2wd Ex has coil suspension tho?

These would be off a '25 F250
Also, is there a preferred Spacer brand?

Look for a USA made high quality spacer ( there are a few companies out there).
Stay the **** away from Amazon and eBay, even if it’s the name brand you want, just to many counterfeit parts on Amazon and eBay.
Be prepared to spend a lot more money than you probably think on wheels spacers though. The good ones are not cheap. The cheap ones ( like those found on Amazon and eBay) break and try to kill you.

On my old 2002 Excursion I went with Fred's (Fearless Fred's) wheel adapters and they worked perfectly even after rolling 4 or 5 times. They cost $760 several years ago but I was able to sell them for $380 locally after the wreck. I spent a lot of time researching the best wheel spacers and everything brought me to the website of the funny car race car driver. I ran 2015 Platinum wheels under the Excursion. On my 2000 Excursion I'm on rim set #5 and they have all been 99-04 custom wheels. 4 sets of 16in and just put a set of 17in rims on it.
I had wheel spacers at one time on my X, and I found them extremely unsafe in the way that it made the truck feel. It would behoove you not to install them on such a heavy vehicle. Ditch the idea.
Get a set of wheels with at least a -6 offset. I'm running Ultra hunters 18x9 -12 offset with 35x12.5 BFG all terrains.
Like a couple here have mentioned, look for some 18" 04 wheels. Those also came in a Harley Davidson version, but the center caps for those are hard to find if they don't come withe them, but you might be able to use standard center caps on them.

Yes, the standard center caps do work with the HD 18” wheels from ‘04. The ‘04 series of factory 18”s are a perfect fit for these big wagons without the need of spacers and they retain the OEM look and quality, I had the Lariat version on my old EX with 35”s.
